Please add an easier game mode than Standard
|
I'm a noob and these bosses are too hard for me. I managed to get to Act 2 on Standard but the boss fights are probably the least fun aspect of the game for me at the moment. Please add an easier game mode.

I'm sure you'll get ran down by elitist ubergamers telling you to "get good".
But I sympathize. I haven't died more than a couple of times, but realize how brutal this probably is for new players. I absolutely think the campaign should have a bit of a learning curve. They toss you in the deep end, and there is no need for that. With six acts, the first few should be a rising curve. Last edited by eldheim#2436 on Dec 10, 2024, 5:11:56 PM

Thanks for sympathizing. I think I died around 50 times on the Act 1 boss. I died to trash mobs along the way a bunch as well. I get that they're going for a hard game and that lots of other people enjoy that which is great. I just hope they add an easier difficulty level so that everyone can have fun.

The game just got much easier.

" Just remember that it's highly subjective. Having game modes or a curve in the campaign won't hurt the overall experience for those that enjoy more difficult content :) He isn't asking to remake the entire game, just to accommodate new players, or maybe players with disabilities and such, which I think a big studio should be able to do, frankly. I personally know many people through a disability community that massively enjoy the one button builds available in POE1 for example. Not saying you should tailor your game to fit a small minority, but at the same time, if you want your entire game to be an adaptation of ruthless mode, you sort of are doing that already. |

" Look into redoing your build and seeing how skills combo, upgrade your whites to blue and blues to yellow Salvage blue and yellow items for shards to turn into orbs to do the above Salvage items with sockets that you don't need for artificer orbs that add sockets to your gear so you can increase resistances. Defense is very important in this game Keep doing it on new items if you're not happy with the items you have. For armour pieces you generally want Life, Resistances, Rarity in that order On weapons you want things that increase your damage If you are playing Melee try playing ranged or caster. The tools are there, as long as you look out for attacks and move out the way you will get there :) |

" It's completely different from most/any ARPG in terms of difficulty. If you're not interested in all the below, might not be worth the time because it doesn't get much better, but here ya go: - Try to establish what you're dying to. Is it a big telegraphed boss mechanic and the solution is purely "learn/practice/succeed at the mechanic" OR is it a bunch of seemingly normal attacks that you might just be "too squishy" to survive. - Gear up: Go back to previous areas, farm gold (pickup then sell items), respec your passive tree a bit and find ways to survive better. Try to get better gear such as helm, armor, gloves, etc etc. where the values (Armor or Evasion) are higher, they have Life on them, hopefully some resists here and there. - Try different skills: This is more of a tangent to "gear up", but in backward-farming you'll end up with some extra skill/support gems. Maybe there's a utility (freeze, electrocute, stun) skill you could weave in and help the overall fight. Mayber there's one or two damage-over-time abilities you can throw on to help widdle boss while doing mechanics. Not much but if you do all that you technically should be able to kill him, it's just not going to be the auto-run easy campaign you'd be used to in any other ARPG. But that doesn't get better later on, so definitely just consider if that's something you're interested in. Mobile games have better trading...

I just want to add, it's not just elitist gamers. Though that does happen and it can be with a slice of attitude.
Some people look for games that have standard difficulty that is challenging and difficult. Lots of games i grew up with didn't finish day one first try or even have that option. So give it time, you will get better, I wasn't a very good souls player when i started, and that is the appeal, you learn and get better each time you play more, learn and get better and give it time to master. |
