My thoughts on the SRS nerf.

The interaction of SRS and Cast on minion death was really cool. It was NOT overpowered. It did not kill bosses in 5 seconds, or one shot them.

The SRS loop was extremely fun, and with that fun removed, I almost don't even want to play the game anymore. It feels like you guys are determined to kill POE2.

You should reverse this nerf immediately.

My entire built has been specced around it.

Before this, my build felt like trash, needing 10 minutes per boss fight. I finally felt like i was doing damage (not even close to some other builds) and they just slap me in the face and say no. Literally started having fun and they take it away.

Ssly i we t from having a horrible time and almost giving up to finally having fun and now they don't only take it away, thhey brick my character in in the process.

There are two major issues for me here: one my entire build has been reworked around the interaction. I am poor and if it goes through i have a bricked character and i effectively will have to start anew or grind gold to respec in low level zones. I wont do either.

Two: my favourite part of poe has always been finding these niche interactios. That make me feel like i am breaking the game. Them entirely removing fun interactions is just an ill omen imo.

Its a shame because the other things they wanna fix are perfect but this one is just a gian slap in my face.

Personally: i suggest they stick with the 5 skulls at all levels nerf and maybe reduce the damage/scaling. Removing interactions is not the way to go at all.


I would like to say now, that I feel the same about the srs nerf. The interaction was very cool, and was fun as hell. It also kept flame wall up 100% of the time for ranged minions and weapons. So this nerf on SRS also nerfed the heck out of the witch in general. It just feels awful now without it. Like the person that I quoted said, lower the damage that they do, but do not remove the interaction.

Lastly, I would just like to say this: Remember that games are supposed to be fun. So if you remove the fun from a game that is lacking in it, players will leave.
So just my recommendation to GGG is to be careful, and more thoughtful in the future about removing fun from the game.

The reason they removed that interaction is not because of builds focused around SRS itself, but builds that were using SRS death triggers to spam other spells out to an absurd level. Balor has been running SRS too and made a vid which both gives a quick explanation of the dirtier stuff people were doing with the loop and also how he's been taking his fairer SRS build going forward.

Honestly all it really means is you have to cast your flame walls again, not the end of the world. And the stuff Jung was doing was pretty degenerate and definitely did have to go.

Genuinely, what's the point of Cast on Minion Death now? I can't think of anything with the existing skills that can reasonably use it. Curses are too expensive even with reduced cost - forget it if you're a Blood Mage.

Profane Ritual requires a corpse and doesn't seem to use your minions, so the one reason to justify it costing 2 skeletons is worthless in the place you'd need it most.

I already hate having to play SRS, but even with all the Spirit I can muster I have 6 skeletons. 8, counting the ones from the sceptre, which, even with a +3 mod, are already becoming a liability in drawing out the revive timer.

While the skeletons actually started dealing damage towards the end of Act 3, they're still made of paper. SRS is the only way to keep up any kind of damage consistently, and now it's just a fire sorceress with extra steps. I still deal damage, it's just... not fun.

And a unique avenue is closed off because someone who will poopsock the game no matter what they play abused it, somehow. Cool!
ngl I didn't know it happened until this post, and my toon is SRS in low maps.

The loops I saw were straight-up inferior to just casting wall for various reasons so I never bothered. Yeah I'm lazy, but not at the cost of clear speed.

If there was a loop that somehow got stronger and was OP, IMO it's fine but cringe. If it was the normal loops that just summoned them for free, I don't really get it.

Dying to know if I missed out on something OP tho. Was always late to the bandwagon on poe1 :(
