Can't get past Act 2 after 36 hours of play - I feel humiliated

Some feedback from a player with 1200 hours of play in POE.

I have played two builds (warrior and sorcerer), and after a total of 36 hours of play have not been able to get either into Act 3. That is despite both builds being based on content from streamers, and my trying to stay over-levelled relative to the monster level in the game at all time. I have spent hours watching videos to see if i am missing something obvious in my build or how to do the boss fights. I feel completely stuck.

I have spent the last 5 hours trying to get past the end Act 2 boss with my sorcerer. I see videos of others doing so with a build very similar to mine but it takes an absolute war of attrition, with you removing a wafer thin amount of the boss health.

You might say I need to "git gud" - well I completed Elden Ring and the DLC multiple times - and never felt in a dead end like this game does. I tried going to level in other zones - XP accumulates brutally slowly and the gear drops are so crap the likelihood of getting something that really helps is low. My gem levels about the max dropping for where i am in the game. Gear is early game ropey but not terrible.

So much about the game is great - it looks superb, so many good design choices, and I have been looking forward to it for so long. But if I had to sum up how the game makes me feel - I honestly feel humiliated. I dont mind the game being difficult - in fact I welcome it - but the game should give you somewhere to go if you feel progression is hard. For me, I feel like there is nothing I can do expcept maybe reroll another character and hope that somehow that gets me passed the roadblocks. But I shouldnt have to do that.

check a video about the boss. It is about the boss mechanic.. not about brute forcing it trough.
Definitely watch an explanation video on boss mechanics. From my experience, if your build can reach the boss, you're more than fine to kill it. Most of the time killing the packs in the area before the boss is the bigger struggle than the boss fight. It might take a few attempts before you see all the skills of the boss, but it's certainly doable, heck even without resistances I got past it and so can you!
Thanks for the reply.

I have seen several videos on this boss, but it is just very, very hard to do with Sorc - noone will show the fight in full because it takes so long!! I am not trying to brute force it, i have spent hours today trying to learn mechanics but I am just so zero-dps that it is soul destroying.

I really can't believe GGG meant for it to be this hard and with so few avenues to be able to improve your character.
I beat it with sorceress. Only tips I suggest is use Ice Nova to freeze the mobs in the first phase and coldsnap to get rid of them quickly. Then for all phases of the boss, spam ice bomb, fire wall and your choice of fire orb or storm(maybe shock) orb to continuously do passive damage to the boss. Focus on the mechanics while you do passive damage, until you git gud enough to mix in some basic attacks.
Not to be rude, but I'm genuinely confused what the balance state currently is. I am playing monk. Half the internet complains how Melee is x times harder than ranged. Yet I'm in maps now, I'd expect most mages to breeze through the acts as if this was poe1...

Is the sorceress damage just that bad ? I do die in 2 hits as melee and dodging is not exactly easy, but the boss fights are not that long in my experience
Monk is fairly busted rn. Most people I see are just zooming with monk
I'm running sorc and beat the act 2 boss in 1 or 2 tries. Are you using curses? I'm leaning into lightning so I have 3 support gems on conductivity and it makes my lighting based skills about 10x more powerful.
