evasion - no AOE in poe2 vs no spells in poe1
this is actually a really interesting, masterful stroke. I started out thinking that evasion is going to be incredibly powerful. Well it can be, but... Now you have to pay attention to ALL the monsters and react to them all differently depending on what animations you see.
I realized this in the valley of the titans. I kept dying repeatedly at first and didn't understand why my defenses weren't working. Then it hit me - dune lurkers' ranged tentacle attack might be an aoe. The goliath's tackle is an aoe. Liches have an AOE seal. Golems have an AOE groundslam. There is really so much more interesting than defenses working vs attacks but not spells. What I'm feeling in moveset design in this specific zone at least is that I have to watch ALL the monsters and react to all of them differently. -- I don't have alpha access, that was a LONG time ago. Talking about those goliath... i hate them. if i dodge roll away they still hit me. and his 2/3 buddies behind him will body slam too and still hit me even though i am 1 dodge roll back AWAY from them all.
And them they all get rezzed back... And them you have to run away from the tornado 1/2 the map away, trying to dodge the goliath just to reach the necro that rez them. And then you aggro those worms that just keep encircling you and go back in the sand to just pop up around you again and just murder you. That zone is such cancer as a melee evasion character. |
