POE2 respects are 10-30x too expensive.
GGG - you can have *TWO* hit games on your hand, if you will reduce the cost of respecs by 10x, or more. (in both POE1 and POE2) I am playing POE2 with a non-POE player I recruited. We're trying to beat the end of Act 2 boss, and we're "trying stuff out".... and just 8 points refunded cleared out his ENTIRE gold balance. If he wasn't playing with me, he would probably brick his character, like other on the forums have posted about, and then he would be done. The mass majority of players will not keep playing after bricking a character with a bad respec. The mass majority of players do not want to follow a youtuber's build, because at least 1/2 of the entertainment of the game is *building* the spec yourself. The satisfaction of figuring it out. The mass majority of players do not want to "figure it out" in path of building, a 2d spreadsheet app. They want to figure it out by attacking things and respeccing. Please please, for your own sake.... drop the cost of respects in POE2 by 10-20x. After you see how well it is received, do it in POE1 also. +1
The passive skill tree will always scare new people away if there is a significant burden for new players to experiment and find out what they like. I am not that new but it is 100% of the reason why I have not played more in the past. Frankly, I still can't recommend this fantastic early access experience to my friends solely because of the respec costs. I don't even seen a reason for a cost to exist in the first place when the core game concept includes resetting the economy by making each season a fresh start. |
