Where's all the loot in this loot finding game?

Dear GGG,

This is a LOOT finding game. You kill cool monsters and find cool stuff to help you kill more monsters. Pretty simple. Well, last night after 5 deaths I finally killed the ACT 1 boss on my first character, a warrior. I was excited, thrilled, but mostly exhausted. Since I hadn't found anything yet or the crafting materials to make something, the thought of finally getting a rare upgrade or anything better than the blue junk I was wearing was going to be worth grinding out this boss. I mean if good loot doesn't come from an Act boss, then where does it come from? When the loot dropped off of the vanquished boss all I could say was "You have got to be F'ing kidding me" .......I got a White Bow and 5 Gold. Yes, you read that right. A White Bow and 5 Gold for a first time kill on a hard Act boss. Now that my friends, is incentive.

Here's to hoping ACT 2 will bring a better loot experience.

hate to be the bear of bad news, but it wont. low loot is an ongoing problem for many of us. the elite few chosen by GGG to get good loot claim the game is fine, but for us plebs, the loot is terrible.
Currency is absurdly low. Needs to be bolstered at least a few hundred % to feel decent agaisnt the current enemies!
While I imagine the loot isn't up to D4 [or PoE1?] standards during the campaign it can still shape up.

Plus I don't necessarily mind reigning the power scale back in a bit. Have a D2 like approach where you might farm for hundreds [thousands?] of hours until you reach the pinnacle may not be bad.

If a few thorny issues are taken care of then maybe this will be a good environment for the SSF, HC, and/or Ruthless enjoyers to find a slower paced game where you're not necessarily killing Gods "as your warm up to bigger things" ...

Then again that's just my own opinion. Making things a little more like D2 which didn't feel super loot heavy is fine with me.

During "maps" I probably wouldn't argue with you much.

If you're referring to the campaign I think I'd go a different route. I'd keep parts [most?] of the gearing system and then add in functionality similar to what the old PoE1 crafting bench & vendor recipes had.

For example defeating the A1 boss wouldn't be quite as bad if you could sell the right combination of items to a vendor and get back a couple of Sapphire rings.

Throw on "cold res" onto most of your other [defensive] gear pieces

Throw on flat or percent damage onto your weapon

Add a mod to your flasks so they slowly gain charges over time. Would have helped me a ton as I kept on getting close to killing some bosses and just needed ONE more hit from the life potion :)

... Then lets see how many people have horror stories just beating the first boss. I sure hope it would be a lot less.

Note: I feel I got super lucky as I got a nice weapon drop just before the fight. Otherwise I'd have never have had the DPS to take the boss out. It still took me 5 tries though if memory serves.

I find cool stuff all the time that helps me kill more monsters.

What you really mean is one or more of the following:
a. You don't know how to determine if what you got is going to help you, so it doesn't look exciting when in fact you should be more excited about it because it's a huge upgrade.

b. You don't know how to turn a white item into a blue or yellow item that will be a massive upgrade ( currency gamble ) that will also give that same rush.

c. You want drops that make you overpowered to drop all the time. I.e. it takes no knowledge or skill to get upgrades, you just turn your brain off pick stuff up, it auto equips if it's better than what you have and you cruise through the game like ARPJeesus. Low skill cap play.

Look deep within yourself and see if you have fallen into any of these common traps.
I love that loot is scarce, it makes it mean something and it forces you to compensate for your weaknesses. Playing D4 with loot exploding everywhere and 99.999% of it is trash, isn't fun for me.

In PoE 2 I actually stop and look at white items, because I can potentially do something with it. I never give a crap about the vast majority of what drops in D4.

As far as crafting - yes, we need more orbs and mats for sure.

Act 4 onwards. End game maps is where the real loot begins.
Well, I am about to finish Act 3 Cruel with my shiny Normal crossbow. Without treading you aren't getting much

If your using a "Normal" crossbow, you fooked up. Use your orbs for crafting lol. Spend a bit of gold at the item gambler on CBows. I got my +2 elle gem staff that's carried me to act 4 that way.
