Blood Mage Mana/Life Costs

Skills costing the same amount of life as mana leads to the blood mage having to solve both life costs and mana costs . Thematically, I believe, a blood mage should have to focus completely on skill life cost and be able to ignore the mana cost of skills.

My skills cost double life as well. Also some of them remove Energy Shield and some dont when used. This needs to be fixed asap, casting 4 curses kills my character from full HP/ES.
what is the point of blood magic if you just double the cost of skills? The node should cut the mana cost in half and convert it in life, making it cost 30life/30 mana instead of 60 mana.

like whats the actual point of killing myself while casting. also why are there 7 point of life regen on the whole tree?

That's probably the best solution I have heard so far. It's far easier to relate to a witch going "look at me, I can save mana by using some of my life" compared to "look at me, I can also use just as much life as mana to cast" as the others laugh at you for being an idiot.

I was almost thinking it should be the Blood Magic from the tree instead, but that would remove the ability to do some cool stuff with MoM or EB.

As it stands the first node is a big negative. Taking an ascendency shouldn't hurt your character.

I'll add to this as I am lvl 61 blood mage. The health glob drops are not bad overall, really helps once you get crit, but initially is very punishing as the game has very little Regen nodes period. It means you have to change the pace and either do unleash / huge slow nukes, or invest completely into Regen on the left side down burning passives to get to 4-6% life Regen.

Spell leech seems to be very weak. It's hard to tell when it's working and when I hit a huge crit on mana flare the 10% leech doesn't chunk like it should. Maybe in higher levels it'll scale.

I feel you need a base Regen for blood mage of 2 maybe even 3-4% life Regen to smooth out the investment for casting. This won't allow you to tank enemies by Regen but it'll smooth out Costs when dealing with degens.

Since damage taken as mana are very heavy into points to reach it's a bit of an option but only helps a bit.

The blood mage has some super strong DPS nodes but essentially forces you to play a bit of a glass cannon. Not the worst thing.

And with evasion investment hard to get too, you'll burn your extra life stacks from globs really quick so the bonus crit from the ascendancy most times is using your regular life not a max full overfilled one.

If you gain bonus damage per life spent it would help to offset the risk, something like when spells casted under max life, gain 5% extra physical damage per 10% missing maximum life

Yeah playing the blood mage archetype has been very unfair and not fun at all.
I havent had the leech be worth anything on the ascendancy.
Id at most get back half of my casting cost.
The blood remnance are really useless in boss fights, making them incredibly hard. A lot of bosses have them spawn inside of them making them impossible to pick up. The two seconds between them spawning from crits is way too long. the reward just isnt there.
I regret picking this archetype so much, i genuinely dont want to play the game anymore, but...
Still going to push through it. The game can only get better if were able to give good feedback and once its changed itll be ok ;(
At least its not the least picked Ascendancy :)
