Link Steam Account - You cannot add this login method to this account.

I just bought early access to PoE 2 via the PoE website. I wanted to play through steam so I went to link my Steam account, but I get an error message.

You cannot add this login method to this account.
You cannot merge two accounts with the same login methods.

I tried emailing support, but it didn't go through. For now I am using the standalone client, but would still like my Steam account linked.

Let me know how I can get it linked.

You probably got this error because you have an old POE account that is already linked to Steam so it doesn't allow you to connect another one.
Try to connect to POE.com using email/password then disconnect and try to connect back using Steam connection. You should be able to access both accounts like that.

Unfortunately it will only help you to find back your old account as you can't unlink yourself anyway and will endup like many of us for similar issues.
Contacted multiple times the support for the last 4days, no response so far. 3/4 of the emails are bouncing back because their email system bug/is full.
All this for 1 simple click to unlink an account, a basic feature... really dumb and frustrating.

Anyway, at least you can play... just try to find back your account to help later on the support to fix your issue once it's less busy.

You were right! I found an old PoE account attached to an old email. You were also right. There was no way to unlink the steam account myself. Once support gets back on track I'll put in a ticket to have them unlink it.
