Some support gems not working with Plague Bearer and Herald of Plague.

Plague Bearer doesn't seem to be supportable by any Support Gem that interacts with hits, even though Plague Nova does hit. I assume that's because it has neither attack nor spell gem tags.
Gale Force from the Wind Dancer spirit gem does work with supports like that, e.g. with Bursting Plague.


Herald of Plague doesn't have an AoE tag, even though the effect has a radius.
So some support gems like Magnified Effect do not work with it.

Plague Bearer has several supports that absolutely should work, but just don't. I think the skill is missing a "damaging" tag. Ex, Expanse works with it, but Hourglass doesn't and the only additional requirement is that the skill is damaging. Came here to post similar frustrations...

EDIT 2: Ignore most of below, I forgot Herald of Plague was a thing, didn't realise that's what you were saying didn't accept aoe gems. Reason why Plague Bearer doesn't accept damaging supports still stands, but everything else doesn't

Plague bearer (EDIT: sorry, Herald of Plague, force of habit) definitely works with AoE supports, here's with and without magnified effect. OFC, this is at 100% storage and at approximately the same place

EDIT: I have a feeling damaging supports don't work because (as I accidentally slipped up on earlier) it works similar to a skill in PoE 1, Plague Bearer. Plague Bearer worked similarly, however it released the damage over time, rather than in a big hit. In its skill description, it mentioned that its damage could not be modified while Herald of Plague does not.

It's unclear, and in that case, plague bearer kind of states that it "poisons" on hit.

It's hard to know what works and what does not when the tooltip is misleading. It deals physical damage around you that poisons enemies on hit. Not every physical support works either.

This implies that the skill "hits" enemies, which makes sense (it's applying poison, based on physical damage). The bug is that it cannot be supported by any gem that has text "supports skills that hit enemies".

My guess here is that there is an "invisible" (meta) tag for skills that hit, and this "hits enemies" tag is missing from Plague Nova/Plague Bearer.

Plague Bearer has neither an Attack nor a Spell tag, maybe that's why those supports don't work.
