PoE2: Cruel mode "Ascent to Power" Quest bugged.

I'm on Cruel mode trying to clear this again. I've killed balbala twice, but the quest never updates. It's just stuck on saying "Travel to Traitor's Passage".

I'm having the same issue, I've cleared the zone multiple times and have killed the boss (balbala) 3 times. ran the trial and could not ascend at the end.

I noticed something strange-- When I check the map after beating the boss, it seems I've been put into the Normal A2 map, instead of the Cruel A2 map. I checked that I was on Cruel A2 before going in, so I'm guessing it's somehow switching me to Normal A2.
I know it switched me because before I enter the boss room, if I check my map I'll be able to click on the Normal A2 tab at the top and see the fade-out-fade-in animation that plays when you switch acts (Meaning I can't click on Cruel A2 tab because I am correctly on Cruel A2), then when I check after killing the boss, I'm able to click on the Cruel A2 tab, meaning that I'm not on Cruel A2, otherwise I wouldn't be able to click the tab. |

Same, quest never updates, killed Balbala several times on cruel. Quest stuck at "Travel to Traitor's passage". On the cruel act 2 map "Trial of the Sekhemas" is still available at monster lvl 22

I have the same issue.
I'm going to ignore this quest for now, because I don't think it should be there in the first place. Act 5 won't have a quest to do with ascension (because the different trials first appear in acts 2, 3, and 4), so it's only logical that A2C shouldn't have one, either. Even the coin this Balbala drops is for the 2nd ascension, not the 3rd. |

I'm currently facing the same problem. I noticed that, after Balbala has been killed there's still one of her spirits left that always revives after being killed. So I believe as long as this spirit isn't finished the quest isn't as well?

ok what i found on the internet is - this quest was not supposed to be there on cruel, you get 3rd and 4th ascendancies while mapping. just ignore the quest.
