This game is perfect and I am afraid it will be ruined

The difficulty is perfect. I'm nolifing the game right now and both melee and ranged are great. Item drops are just right. I'm never starving for meaningful upgrades, which come in various unique ways, not just from generic gear drops. This system creates a sense of progression that was earned, because I have to work with what I have, but I can feel getting stronger as I get new options, skills, combos.
The map size is exactly what it should be. It feels like a real world, and is very enjoyable to go through each zone, each new dungeon. Exploration is greatly rewarded, as it should be. I love that roll doesn't have phasing and the combat requires proper positioning. Bad play is punished, even weak mobs can swarm inattentive player. The world is dangerous and every action is meaningful. I also love that players cannot phase through each other either, as this greatly contributes to the "realness" and engagement of combat. Everything from loot systems, to character systems and gameplay is everything I've ever wanted and a dream come true. I hope GGG will continue the course and ignore what people who want just another screen clear zoom ARPG like PoE 1 or Diablo 4 have to say about PoE 2. This is PoE 2 and it's meant to be different, hard, methodical. GGG has created a brilliant game and I'm afraid they will listen to ridiculous suggestions and ruin this one of a kind perfect game. I wish there would be an offline version without updates so I can keep playing this gem forever no matter what happens with the live build. Last bumped on Dec 9, 2024, 7:41:32 AM

" I imagine they would, its a brand new poe account.. hiding their profile..posting snark. Would be some amusing irony if they pulled 400k new players but they are all freeloading train hoppers who dont buy MTX and just end up increasing server costs while the vets leave and stop buying mtx. " A quick look at PoE2's SteamDB entry should ease your worry a bit: https://steamcharts.com/app/2694490 The game's a hit; its peak player count was higher today than yesterday. Minor changes will happen (it is Early Access) but I don't think GGG are going to be making any sweeping changes outside of finishing the game. Living the Hollow Palm live, and loving it. Stay sane, exiles!

Agree, you have to think using skills, rare loot actually rare, engage with mechanics, respect enemies, pay attention.
But will be ruined by lawnmower simulator crowd soon. Moar speed moar powa moar stupid loot rain zoom delete, like there wasn't just a mow the mob lawn game a click away that does just that (which I love btw but that's not the point). Let's enjoy while we can. |

" This is maybe because of your class/skill choice. From the end of ACT 1 , to the end boss of ACT 2, I haven't seen one decent crossbow. (Including regular shop check). I was forced to fight it for two minutes, with mediocre magic crossbow, that prolonged the encounter. (took me like 5 minutes fighting, leaving me with uncomfortably low pots) At ACT 3 , I managed to craft 3 socket, 180+ damage crossbow, and the end boss vaporized. So pray to RNG I say... |

Perfect?! I am ejoying the game, but definitely there are justified grievances, I didn't even read your post fully but 'perfect' is very...very far from reality.
Its a few major patches from being really good, and likely years away from being 'perfect', imo, but definitely appreciate your enthusiasm! Last edited by Justinian#9679 on Dec 8, 2024, 9:32:01 PM

"I hope you're right. It looks like people who expected blowing up screens are disappointed the most, but PoE 1 exists as a standalone game for this exact reason. I really hope PoE 2 stays the way it is because it's my dream game come true. |

" Don't mean much, initial numbers are not as important as the numbers on retention. It's a F2P game so much of the games money will be made from MTX which requires a higher base of return players. There is considerable risk that this slog fest will deter people from coming back and starting over when a league begins. |

Same, it's been hard to find a arpg that wasn't a d3 clone or close enough to it at the core, they can have a place and i play them when i am tired sometimes, but they are not my jam and have overrun the genre.
Great to see games that challenge and pave new ways' try new things imo. It's pretty simple if change bother's you, play the other games. Resident evil player here also, so yeah been through lots of iterations, and liked most, ones i didn't like i didn't play, pretty simple really the old games existed and new games come out all the time. I hope it keeps being new and fresh. It certainly has my attention becasue of it. I hope the haters/"experts" don't ruin it too, like they try to control and twist everything. For the above on MTX,not completely true if i knew it was going to stay slow and tactical and difficult i would have already bought more support packs. After being through D4 and the switcheroo becasue of streamers/haters/complainers i remain reserved at this stage. Last edited by Dragonfire#8575 on Dec 8, 2024, 11:52:38 PM
