Why are attributes so useless and bad?

1 Strength = 2 life
1 Dexterity = 5 accuracy
1 Intelligence = 2 mana

That's it?

Only 1 stat?

Why did you do this, why don't they have other effects?

5 Strength = 1% Increased Melee Damage or Critical Strike Damage or Aftershock Damage or Increased Armour or Increased Stun Buildup or Increased Life Regeneration rate
5 Dexterity = 2% increased Evasion Rating or Increased Critical Strike Chance or flat Evasion or Stun Recovery or Projectile Dodge
5 Intelligence = 2% increased Energy Shield or Energy Shield Recharge Rate or Energy Shield Recharge Time or Mana Regeneration Rate

What is up with these stats being absolute and utter ass?

I think attaching other effects like your suggesting would tunnel people into choosing those specific stats instead of allowing them to choose whatever they want through the small passive skills in the tree. I get what your saying though.

I think every stat would give a little of each, personally

Strength = 2 life, 2 accuracy, 1 Mana

Dex = 1 Life, 3 Accuracy, 1 Mana

Int = 1 Life, 2 Accuracy, 2 Mana

Something something like that

Part of the players wanted more thoughtful and measured gameplay, you got it.

That's also a simple and easy idea. So much better than the lame attributes we have now... they're so boring and bland.

Why do you think they are useless and bad? 2 life per 1 str is insanely good. Considering in PoE 1 you got 1 life per 2 str.
Also consider that in PoE 2 you do not have % life on the tree anymore. So increasing your life pool is even harder, making small increases from str a lot more valuable.
Same for the accuracy from dex. It might not be a premium attribute, but definitely good.

Int... yea I would agree with it being underwhelming in impact, and only really massively benefiting archmage builds at first glance. However, my curse on a 2 link requiring 200 mana per cast also makes me appreciate the int I picked up along the way, since it allowed me to ignore investing into mana for now. So niche perhaps but not bad.

If you want, you can just wait for a few more weeks until a streamer spoon feeds you a attribute stacking build.
You kind of contradicted yourself there bub. Strength is the only source of life aside from like 3 nodes on the tree and 1 ascendancy.

Attributes are overwhelmingly worse in PoE2 than they are in PoE1.

It's not that they're "Bad," it's that they're BORING AND STUPID.

They are the exact opposite of boring and stupid. The stats actually feel meaningful for build consideration. Your stat choice is affecting the way your character plays instead of a mere number on the screen, what is more meaningful than that? In other games you would be forced to pick STR or INT because of numerical DPS and that is boring and stupid.

no, theyre bad

im playing a caster, so i **have** to have 150 int just to use my gems. what do i get from having a shitton of mana? nothing right away, unless i look at archmage or MoM. and those come with their own mana REGEN requirements now.

STR gives SURVIVABILITY without any extra hoops. the other 2 stats also need to do that.
Yep. Exactly.

They need to do more. 2 mana for 1 int lmao crazy how bad this is
