Uncut gem feedback

2 changes to make this system a lot better.
- Allow an uncut gem to create a gem at any level lower than it. (ie level 12 uncut gem create a level 4 gem) This is to skip having to go to a lower level area to farm for low level gems.
- Allow an uncut gem to create a gem no matter the stat requirements. I'm playing Gemling Legionnaire with Adaptive Capability, and I can't craft the next level gem because of stat requirements even though Adaptive Capability will allow me to use it anyway. Either this or fix the Adaptive Capability bug, because that is definitely a bug.

totally agree here.
Dont see why i cant chose the level for lower stat purposes.
Yep I had made a post on it too, should be able to select any level of gem up to the level of the uncut gem
+1
Agreed. If attribute requirement wasn't a thing for gems then the current system would've worked just fine but the fact that we are gated behind attribute requirements in terms of what level of a gem we can use allowing uncut gems to be able to grant any level of gem of its own and below levels is a fair ask.
Does disabling gemcutting restrictions in the options not allow you to make a gem without the required stats?
I wanted to share my thoughts on uncut gems and the menu:

I don't like how the "show recommended gems" button is already selected and the others are hidden. It took me until around level 15 to figure out that I was being misguided or being hand-held and it drastically ruined me experiencing build creation. It felt exactly like how it felt to play Diablo 3 for the first time, seeing how they removed physical runes and put them in a skill/menu selection. But knowing POE, I kept looking for something more... I think this would only be worse for players who don't know how much of a selection you actually have. Maybe have them all displayed, but have a dividing line with "recommended gems" in plain text on the screen. During my first 15 levels, I honestly couldn't understand why we even had gem tags if the supports were just laid out in front of me...

I would also like to see the gems used at a crafting station - it wouldn't make sense to just chisel out a gem with your bare hands.

Lastly, I really think it would be best to still have regular gems drop, and have uncut gems be a little rarer or from quest rewards. Being forced into trying new things is one way to make players go outside their normal playstyle and maybe enjoy a new way of playing the game.

+1 on allowing to create a lower level skill gem. Very annoying on SSF.
Cosigned. I'm in need of a low level uncut gem for Herald of Ash on my dex character and my only options seem to either be to pump a massive amount of strength that I only need for that one gem, or to roll a new character and rush to the King in the Mists to get one (or pay a freaking divine on trade).

Why isn't there a low level uncut gem vendor once you hit cruel?
Well demand on these skills shows that possibility to have lower tier gems is a thing. Price should be dropping as market get saturated more. Thing is that it will not. Because the only valid way of obtaining lower level uncut skill gems is to farm low lvl areas with either new low lvl character or high level one. I wanted to have lvl 10 spirit gem - herald of ash (after dumping one item that was giving me lot of str ended up with lack of STR to go on with new better replacement for that item that had no STR in it). I've farmed lvl 37 and 38 areas for about one hour and got literally one uncut skill gem (and i still need spirit gem that drop way less commonly than skill gems). And from maps I have huge bunch of lvl 16 and 15 skill gems that perhaps I will never use again. Possibility to grab lower level gems with higher one should be available above all.

Being forced to farm low lvl zones to have low lvl gem is killing most of fun of the game since you are basically not progressing any more (no loot will be good for you, also no more experience) which means time is effectively wasted.
