Trail - Block is pointless ( bit extra feedback)
I have tried this trial multiple times. At lvl 26 now. But i loose honour when I block, use resonating shield or shield dash into enemies. This feels really dumb as my build feels useless. I have magma on my shield which you guessed it.... requires me to block to do damage. Whoever over there in design played Elden Ring and only dodge rolled needs to pick up a shield.
Overall I am having fun. I agree with some other posts don't nerf the difficulty. Loot could be a little more forgiving. The warrior does feel a little sleepy on the dps, I hope it increase later game. If not with my above complaint and lack of damage then I see no point in melee. You could argue its a skill or build issue but I have no problem surviving just lack of damage output. But I have taken increased damage with 1 hand and rage to give me more, I don't know what else I can take passive wise. Also the base attack is better than abilities? Odd choice. (As a side note I don't want to do a one shot busted build either just not swing my basic for 10 mins straight) Last bumped on Dec 8, 2024, 5:46:17 PM

Indeed raise shield should not count as being hit.

ya i really dislike the sanctum honour ascension thing, at all
i don't use a shield but i am very tanky build and blast 2h whacks away while absorbing the damage. but now to ascend i can't get hit at all? guess i'll just try zooming through and not fighting anything. could work. i'll try to get some movement speed on my boots |

" I didn't like the new DoD [Dodge or Die] boss fights but when I found out something related [Avoid damage mechanics] was required for ascendance that was just too much. I can go back to ruthless SSF in PoE1 and at least have additional flexibility that PoE2 doesn't seem to provide on how my character progresses. |

" Trials themselves are generally not a problem for a melee char. They don't have many enemies. The last boss is quite the problem though, he's spammy and has plenty of hp, and you still can't be hit or you run out of honor. Last edited by just_dont#6539 on Dec 8, 2024, 4:57:38 PM

It is good they have two ways to ascend but it’s odd that blocking counts as being hit and for Tanks getting hit is kinda what they do.

" I am working on a breakdown of the early starting experience for melee in general that I plan on posting in on EA feedback forums, but this is one of my main complaints. Raise shield in its current state make dodge still feel mandatory, and if you make a build with Raise Shield in mind, because you want to play out the fantasy of a unflinching juggernaut or are just tiered of spamming dodge roll, you still have to dodge roll a lot to avoid AoEs and unblockable attacks. In its current state, Raise Shield is more of a liability to rely on. Especially with active skills utilizing the feature of Raise Shield. With that said, we could just be missing features or tools, as PoE2 is in EA. However, if that is not the case, I really hope they rework Raise Shield to be able to block all forms of attacks. There are other ways to make the player think about how and when to use Raise Shield other than forcing you to take guaranteed damage. |
