Passive refund fails to update tree
|
Version: 0.1.0
Platform: Steam Observed Behavior: When attempting to refund/respec passives, under certain conditions it removes gold from inventory but does not actually make changes to the tree. This is particularly the case when making modifications to "earlier" parts of a path while maintaining connection to "later" parts. The only workaround I have found for this so far is to refund the points entirely, then spend the points, and so forth until all desired changes are made. This is, as far as I can tell, significantly more expensive than performing the entire respec in a single action. Expected Behavior: The mechanic should either notify me that my changes are invalid and not remove gold, or complete and save the changes as entered. Repro Steps: 1) Reach a total of at least 13 passive points. 2) Starting from the first point, spend until you reach the first major node, say "Raw Destruction". 3) Move across to the opposite major node, in this case "Pure Energy". 4) Spend the remaining 4 points anywhere. 5) Enter the refund screen. 6) Refund the 4 extra points and use them to reach back to the starting point from "Pure Energy", then refund the 4 points from the start up to "Raw Destruction", then spend the 4 extra points elsewhere again. 7) Confirm changes and close the window. 8) Re-open the window to find that your tree has been reverted, and the 4 points you shifted from one path to another have not changed. I had a similar issue. I was trying to refund passives and then switch them over to new ones on the refund screen (my goal was to switch out the 4 starting nodes). In order to do this, I would have to unallocate 4 passives further in the tree, assign the 4 nodes at the base, unallocate the 4 passives at the base that I didn't want, and then reassign the 4 passives further in the tree. I would click apply since all the points were spent, but it wouldn't actually close the confirmation prompt. No gold was removed, but the passive screen showed the changes until I signed out and back in.
To get around this, I had to only refund points in the refund screen, then spend them, then refund more points, then spend them, etc. which resulted in a higher cost to make the changes. |

Windows 10
Game version: PoE2 0.1.0 Steam Build ID: 16674652 Video: https://youtu.be/4FS85NeZ5ak Issue: Refunding Passives via the Hooded One will not work if, during the same refunding session, the player selects the same skill slot that was previously refunded. Reproduction Steps: 1. Speak with the Hooded One and begin a refund session 2. With your Passive Skill tree already filled out with a decent number of points (in my example I had about 20), begin to refund passive ability slots by clicking on them one at a time to refund them. Take note of the nodes you are refunding. 3. After refunding a number of them, take a different path through the tree but return to the original set of nodes from a different path, taking different skills. 4. After accepting the new pathway, notice that your skill tree flashes an animation and now the pathway is incorrect. Also notice that you now have zero skill points available. 5. Relogging will not fix this issue. Number of times reproduced: 2 times (I ran out of gold!) If the player refunds back to the start and accepts the refund, the refunds will correctly apply. The issue only happens when a previously refunded slot is re-activated during the same refund session. |

This appears to be what happened to me too, but with a twist:
I changed my passive tree by first taking two points of the furthest branch I was building, then proceeded to use those two points to make a new chain to the beginning of the tree and then took away other now redundant points from the start of the tree (the 2 new points made it possible to take the old ones off) and then finally added the 2 points I took off from the end of the tree back. What ended up happening on first try was I lost the gold, but the change reverted back. I redid it, and now somehow I'm left with the new chain at the beginning of the tree, but I lost completely the 2 points from the end. Basically I'm somehow 2 passive points short. I don't have any unspent points either. EDIT: I rellogged, and took a closer look. I wasn't missing the points, but instead I had all the points at the start of the tree. So basically the removal of the 2 points was undone, and that's what left me missing the points at the end of the branch. I did another respec, and just removed the 2 points I tried to remove earlier and added them to the new location, and everything seems fine now. Last edited by Lumis#9627 on Dec 11, 2024, 1:15:27 PM

Same problem as TheJiggyMonster#6284.
If in the same refund session I allocate a node that was deallocated, but with a different path, the whole process fails. Passives screen seems to reflect the changes but as soon as I use a teleport, it all reverts. Gold doesn't seem to be used, though. Video as example : https://youtu.be/D6faJjaG09w |

I also have the same issue. I'm also playing merc and the points I'm trying to refund and reapply are in a similar area of the tree, wonder if it's something specific to this area?
I was able to get around it by doing the refund, confirming the changes then adding back the points in a separate transaction. Did mean it was much more expensive though! |

I dont know exactly the trigger but 20 levels ago, i respecced 30+ points and did some of the things you mentioned. Somehow i was left with 6/8 skill points in weapon set 1, Without using any point on weapon sets. Then i can allocate two extra points in weapon set 2 cause the game thinks ive used 2 on weapon set 1.
Fastforward to today, i respecced 3 points and didnt get any. (I had just used a book of specialization so i had 2 unused points - respec 3, game still says i only have 2 points even after restarting) Last edited by glafx#6002 on Dec 14, 2024, 8:03:37 PM
