Trial of the Sekhemas feedback

Just droppin in my 2 cents about it. First off, gotta say that I do love it! I could consistently got to Rattlecage with a nigh-on full bar of honour as Merc. Not sure if other classes are as viable as he is in it but where it falters is definitely Rattlecage. Either make its volcanoes last for waaaay shorter or prevent him from using his triple explosion when it's got too many volcanoes out. It's just a flat out unfair fight right now, and its the only fight I would call unfair up until I encountered it!

Oh, and another thing. I dunno if its intentional or not, but on the map while in Rattlecage's arena, the rocky shell he emerges from isn't shown as a solid object that you can't walk through. His entire arena area is shown as it being one giant blank space for to fight the boss in. I'm not certain if the intent is to able to move freely around the arena once the boss leaves the shell, but the shell remains there and you can't walk through it, so it is an obstacle during the fight and yet the map says otherwise.
I had to retry it 10 times doing the warrior with a a mace. I enjoy poe 1 hc but poe 2 isnt for me. Ill just wait for the next poe 1 league
My first char was a shield + 2h mace warrior and I could not ascend. I spent my first 20hrs with that char. I ran around to grab a few levels after failing the trials 3 times, but did not help. I beat every other boss 1st or 2nd time.

I basically built armor and def only so I could raise shield at a perfect time and retaliate (manually with bone breaker). But I deal no damage without this combo. It was intentional, I wanted to go thorns, max armor and tank. Its fine in the campaign, im laughing behind a timed block and watch how they burn and bleed.
Most mobs, even trash ones in that trial have "fun" unblockable aoe poison, ice, fire or other attacks. My best run was where I only lost ~100 honour and I could not even touch the boss because almost nothing is blockable in that fight. I was spamming totems but the volcanoes were overwhelming...

But I get it, in POE1, its the same. You wanna go for a "fun" build? You have to suffer through the whole campaign with something different just to enjoy the endgame with your skill.

So we just have to accept that the trial is for different builds.

The whole game is different. Its no longer the creative build whatever with whatever, its a streamlined souls-like game where you spend 20minutes in a boss-fight dodging cautiously just to grab no-items. Grinding Gear is only fun for nolifers.
Early days of POE1 were not different. I remember asking help to kill Piety, then Dominus multiple times so I guess GGG will nerf these bosses and events eventually or suffer the consequences of loosing playerbase.


I'm playing an okayish minion master build and I'm having some trouble with this boss as well. I don't deal that much damage, but I'm rather good at dodging and manage to get to the boss with full honour.

If you concentrate you can manage the first half of the fight but I've got to agree: As soon as you get to the second phase it doesn't matter how much honour you've got left. The whole arena is littered with volcanos and falling stalactites. There's literally no way not to get worn down by the pure amount of stuff in this arena. I guess your only option is to seriously overlevel yourself or play some op build to just burst the boss down in 2 seconds.

I do like the varying power levels of the bosses, but some of them make you question how 'more casual' players are supposed to get a foothold in this game.
Remove the honor system. It’s not wanted or a needed mechanic, it’s just bad design.

It could be a fun system, but it must not be exclusively locked to "do not get hit". Some builds are made around being hit.

Sorry but failing 3 times is not being unable to ascend.. it is giving up. I had to try 21 times.. (I had never player this mechanic in pat poe leagues).

That said.. the honor pool is too low imho.

Yeah, like the fact you are dealing with screen cancer traps a gauntlet of summoned mobs and gotta do this through like 10+ rooms. Playing an up close build and being gated with your first interaction of ascending being bottle necked by a poorly thought out and implemented system does not look good. I played melee in Poe 1 and stacked mods for better loot AS a melee in labyrinth Uber lab etc.

The system for this mode of ascension is not very intuitive period.



I really hope GGG decides to adjust this. Whether it be how the honor lost is calculated, more opportunities to replenish it, shorten the traversion to the last boss or better yet.

this is just shit, loving the game but really this is how u ascend?

fk me man way to turn off players.. its like u want ppl to not play.
