These bullet-sponge bosses...

Just that.
I get they're going for 'strategic' and trying to slow the game down but holy crap are the bosses N O T fun.
OMGersh... The fights take f.o.r.e.v.e.r. Cause youre one-shot while the boss has to be puppy-nibbled to death.
Its like roll, hit, roll, hit, roll, repeat 1000 more times until you die cause the boss' AOE was just big enough that you couldn't roll out of it. or...
And Ive only seen this a few times. the Boss pauses mid-wind up...waits for you finish your evade and squashes you where you landed.
I mean sure... ITs possible I rolled early but c'mon the timing shouldnt be that tight... this isnt some Korean MMO.

So unmodded 1.0 Eldin Ring, got it - guess I skip it. Tired of the BS balance that apparently will follow us into the new game, no matter how many other great decisions they made/make that were desperately needed.

I agree! I found a "Lifebrig" with "+3 to all spell levels" in Act 1! That is at least double damage for a long time.

Bosses though still take WAY TOO LONG to kill. Right now I would suggest cutting the health by 50%!
I believe there is a discussion to be had, but it should be approached on a boss by boss basis. Some bosses are much harder than others. Act bosses SHOULD be multi-staged affairs, balanced by having adds for you to suck tasty potion juice out of. Others like Bilbala are more annoying than difficult. This is down to that particular bosses animations and lack of downtime.

However, thus far I feel as though I have been able to do reasonable damage to bosses, mostly by building them to high stagger and then wailing on them in the vulnerable state. Even for non-stagger centric builds this can be useful. Generally, it takes about 3-5 'cycles' of this to kill a boss, which I feel is reasonable. What should be looked at then is how HARD it is to force bosses into weakened or exploitable states. Some bosses due to particularly high resistances or a lot of teleporting are much harder and thus much more time consuming to do so with.

Ultimately every boss has to be looked at in a case by case basis.
Just get a weapon with better DPS and you gonna melt everything in your way, I'm playing Monk and done overall 2 quarterstaff upgrades, first on act 1 final boss as I died 20 times and just got weapon with 60 DPS instead of 15, effect? - He got melted so fast that if second phase wouldn't be mandatory he would die in the first one, this trivialised everything, second weapon upgrade - dead city in act 2 from random elite drop my DPS doubled or tripled, act 2 final boss got melted in first run, honestly I didn't even saw all his animation patterns and attacks he died so quickly lol xD

TL;DR weapon with better DPS will trivialise any challenge, ofc you still have to dodge but enemies are not sponges anymore and that is your main complain.
i'm not gonna lie i used to think these bosses were bullet sponges too until i swapped build and bought a good weapon and suddenly they all die in 3 seconds, the issue is just that certain skills are useless
