Character stuck in loading screen after trial of the sekhemas

I seem to have this weird bug where after i beat the trial of act 2. I selected gemling legionnaire as my class, put an extra gem into my gem sockets (given that i now had the ascendancy node that allowed me to do this), and now i am unable to access my character, and it gives me the error message "Unrecognized task serialized by number; missing registration?". Note, this is after i tried to use the portal given by the game, after i picked my ascendancy, not the one you can summon by pressing the UI button. Maybe this has something to do with it?
