Bone Cage - Game Crash x2

My game has completely crashed twice immediately after using bone cage. The first crash was yesterday and said something about a render error, today's crash didn't produce a pop up but I suspect something is happening when bone cage tries to render "off map".

That's my current theory, will update if I encounter this again.
