Game sends me to login screen each time my controller disconnects

Basically, title. I play on PC, and use PS4 controller for both PoE 1 and PoE 2.This controller is a bit old, so the cable connecting it to my PC doesn't sit tightly in the port on the controller. It poses no issues with gameplay, but when I put controller on the table, there is a chance it will disconnect. In PoE 1, the game displays an overlay message "connect a controller or press X on your conteroller to continue", but that's it. Once I reconnect the controller, everything fine and I can continue from where I was instantly. In PoE2 I can see the same message screen briefly before the game sends me straight to the login screen. I have to relog and re-select my character to continue playing.

I'm playing solo if that matters, and I would really like to have the ability to NOT go through several loading screens just because I places my controller on the table

You're not the only one having this issue. It has happened to me about 20 times within an hour while I was playing the Act 1 campaign with a friend. I don't think it's because you're using an old controller since I literally purchased a new xbox controller the day before launch.

I've been plagued with numerous rage quitting bugs for the past 3 days.

Dealing with the same issue now. Can hardly play the game. Constant disconnects. I have uninstalled & updated drivers. Updates on Xbox accessories app up to date. No windows update. Xbox elite controller with a strong power cord.

It is concerning that other people playing on controller are experiencing the same issue even when the controller is firmly plugged in. I can trace each time I get sent to the loading screen to my cord getting loose, but if there is another thing at play simultaneously, this really needs to be looked into

Same thing happen to me, I play with a wireless controller on windows 10 and If I run out of battery on the controller, the connect controller message shows up then instant logs me out to the character select screen.

It's messed up the last time it happened I was at the end of Trial looking at loot. Luckily I collected everything before the disconnect

Still happening for me. Unbearable to deal with. I don’t understand why it does it. No rhyme or reason

Same here, on Windows 11 Xbox elite controller keeps disconnecting when not on wired. The disconnection then boots me out to the login screen.

It started for me a couple days ago and is happening every ~2-3 minutes now. Ended up just giving up on the controller for now.

And another bump, beacuse I didn't see anything about this in recent patch notes.

I am quite certain that this "boot to login on controller disconnect" happens beacuse of the new couch co-op feature. I haven't tested what happens when you have a second controller connected, and frankly, I shouldn't even have to do so. Instead of booting the game to the load screen when it loses the only player playing it, the game should just pause and wait for me to rejoin, or display a message that it switched to mouse and keyboard due to loss of controller input or something.

Also happens on consoles every time
