Failed to connect to instance

My game froze when I was on a Monk fighting the "Crop Circle" encounter. I was disconnected shortly after with the game telling me, "Disconnected: Failed to connect to instance."

That was about 2 hours ago, I can't rejoin on my monk. I made a ranger and was about to get into the Riverbank after a few tried but I can't move on to Clearfell on my Ranger. I'm getting the same error, "Disconnect: Failed to connect to instance."

same here on act 2 second last skeleton boss. do i need to wait for instance to dissappear 8-15 min?

Multiple threads of people having the same issue. Zero response from staff. Players suggest swapping log in server location, swapping to a VPN, to reset modem, to reinstall the entire game, and a ton of other potential random things that may or may not work. I've tried these all with no positive results.

After 30 hours of playtime since Early Access launch and zero issue this just happened to me. I can get to character select almost instantly but logging into any character (even a different one from the initial one where the error started) results in the same problem. 60 second load screen, then booted back to the main sign in screen with the error message 'Failed to connect to instance.'.

Tried all the same stuff mentioned above. Sometimes I can get in but loading into any new zone or taking a portal causes the game to throw the same error. Super annoying.

I've been having this issue since launch. Its mega sporadic but I have found some consistency in it.

During the campaign, if you join a new area and the GGG gears just spin and never hitch while loading, it's a tell tale you're going to get kicked to login and see "unable to join instance".

A workaround that *SOMETIMES* works is if you ctrl-click the zone and create a new instance, you can get into it. This doesn't always work. Otherwise, the instance needs to time out (8-15mins) to resolve itself.

This is FAR worse when you get to maps. This issue will randomly happen while mapping. I can do 15 maps in a row, but then one map has the issue. You cannot create a new instance of the map so you just lose your waystone. Some other things to consider for details on this issue

- Friends of mine can join the instance just fine, it's specific to my client/character
- If I connect to a VPN, I can join the instance, if I disable the VPN the issue comes right back
- This issue persists regardless of the region I am in. Example-I have the issue, get kicked to character screen, change regions and try again just to have the same issue

Ive opened ALL ports, I've tried the steam client vs the ggg client, reinstalled, verified game files, messed with my graphics for the fun of it, nothing fixes it. Im on Comcast internet in the north east for what its worth. I cannot figure out any other common denominator as to why this happens to me all the time but my 7 friends playing the game have never had the issue.

I have been experiencing "Failed to connect to instance" since approximately December 9th. I am unable to connect to the game without using a VPN.

I am located in the UK and typically connect through the London gateway. However, I have attempted to connect through other locations, but the issue persists.

its just been absolutely ridiculous for me, ever since the game has literally launched and when i downloaded it, from day 1 it has been giving me that issue, at this point im just tired because i've just been switching vpns to vpns, just the free trials ones and some of the other services like exitlags etc through those i was able to play the games, now am at a point where i've ran out of free trials on all of them and im using cloudflare rn but it just makes me lagg and the game is all choppy with it which is not fun so i honestly don't even know what to do, none of the patches have fixed this at all

Nothing changed here for me the only way i am able to play is VPN ...

when ever i change instance have this now from yesterday cant go to the next area.

Changed several servers still the same .

Happens to me too, didnt have it in the past season
