Add Phashing For the Duration of Dodge Roll.
|
Too often, especially in boss fights, do you find yourself stuck in a pack of unkillable white mobs where the only solution is to spam skills and life flasks. Dodge roll should definitely phase you for the duration of the animation. It's even more annoying due to the camera angle often leading you into being cornered or surrounded by mobs and obstacles which suddenly come from off-screen.
If we're not going to have accessible movement skills, add phasing to dodge roll like virtually every game that uses it. Last edited by X3n_#5275 on Dec 7, 2024, 2:25:45 AM Last bumped on Dec 7, 2024, 9:01:33 PM

I'm not sure I'd agree with general phasing but there were several times I attempted to dodge roll away and was stopped by something that I don't think "should" have stopped the dodge roll.

Something I hope GGG realizes is that dodge roll works in games like Elden Ring because you're usually only fighting one monster at a time and dodging that one monster's attacks. In those games, being actually surrounded is a death sentence rather than just "a boss's invulnerability phase mechanic".

" that's the problem, if they follow your advise on most mechanics, i can also go play those other games. ggg's strength has always been to get inspired from other games' stuff and make it work in their own creative way. the old ggg could, hopefully the new ggg can too. age and treachery will triumph over youth and skill!

" Pretty weird, blind fanatical take. The point is that there's a player experience reason behind the phasing. No one is asking for it to be an iframe. Or this "most mechanics" nonsense you pulled out of your arse. I can guarantee with full certainty this will be a topic pushed for fairly heavily by the community within the next 24 hours. It's basic UX expectations if you're going to implement dodge roll. Last edited by X3n_#5275 on Dec 7, 2024, 3:34:34 AM

" Ok, that makes sense but if there 0 i-frames then boss attack tracking should not be on until the very last frame. You can reposition during a swing without a roll but the boss will 360noscope track you until it releases the swing. It's just as ridiculous as the i-frames and just as sloppy. As for the phasing - Yes please. Act 3 jungle corners are absolute cancer and it's where most of my deaths have occured. Trying to group the monkeys for a fire wall, oopsie some baby monkeys spawned out of the trees and now you have nowhere to go. If they don't want to give us 100% phasing, at least have the roll force our character through models. If we take damage during the animation so be it, but currently it's legit hope you can deal enough damage while you sip on your juice box. I am enjoying the D2 feeling of the game, but even Act3 D2 didn't throw 3 packs of mobs that can jump half a screen away while also spawning a pack of 20 gremlins from the trees. |
