"Error loading Metadata" when zoning into town

I've had this error pop up twice now:

I'm in Act 1, playing a Mercenary. On two different occasions, this error pops up when I return to town. Clicking OK causes the game to crash completely.

I am getting the same error when trying to load into Clearfell. And it just closes the game. When trying to load back into the game it's just does the same again.

Same, after equipping cosmetic.

Same issue here, I can log in, click play and then the game crashes

This exact thing just started happening as literally a minute or so ago.

I'm having the same issue while trying to load into "The Ardura Caravan"

UPDATE:

I have both the Steam version and standalone version downloaded, this error only appears on the Steam version, standalone version working as correctly.

UPDATE 2.0: Verified integrity of files via Steam, Steam now works.
