Akamai CDN overloaded so it denies standalone client download?

Hi there,

My pc client keeps getting download error so I dig into the error log then I saw load of http 403 error.

Then I visited the URL directly, I got access denied:

And the edgesuite.net is part of Akamai CDN.

So apparently the CDN is blocking acess due to overload request?

does the standalone client not periodically retry?

So you seam to have a better knowlauge of the issue,

Over and over I am getting to 3% then 7% and this last attempt I got to 10% and each time I get the http 403 error.

The PC client will error out and pop up an warning. Clicking Ok will close the client.

Problem of being too ppopular or it's just the particular CDN node doesn't work properly.

It returns 403 forbidden because the backend token auth check is way overloaded right now (I suspect).

I have no doubt it's overloaded. Just hoping hey know what's wrong and can fix it sooner.

It is not 3,7,10% of total files, but files left to download. So just continue till you have downloaded them all.
Just too big of a toll for download servers for every1 to download at once.

Just need to be patient. I was able to finish standalone patching, took about 5 403 errors + restarts. There will also be a final patch tomorrow to apply as well before actual login.

FYI you can't access the cdn urls in a browser (access denied) because it needs the auth token (and probably a short list of acceptable user agents) as a part of the request header payload (it's just basic http static content).

They might have fixed it. It has been fine for the past 20 minutes and 15GB has been downloaded.
