Monk using glaives

So I've always liked using glaives in action combat games, just because of their reach and how cool the attack animations can be with them. I've seen that glaives are in PoE 2 but they are classed as axes and I assume they are strength based but I think on monk getting the attribute requirements to use them might not be the right choice since monk seems to be dex/int.

I just feel like a glaive would be more of a monk style weapon and be more dex instead of strength because of the agility you can use with a glaive, you know spin around and cleave your way through mobs with style.

Maybe this isn't that much of an issue but I just feel like the glaive is more of a martial artist kinda weapon and would make sense to be dex based and it'd be super cool to see a monk acendancy which synergises around glaives. You know like AoE stuff, explode and speed modifiers etc.

Let me know if you agree or disagree with this, I honestly think this would be a nice change and suit the monk really well.

The Glaive is for sure a STR/DEX weapon. While the weapon can be well balanced like a sword they are still notably more heavy. Around 2-3x more heavy than a longsword. Attacks from them benefit greatly from strength allowing deep penetration and laceration. The Glaive in particular was designed for infantry against both cavalry and other polearm uses (hence it's flange).

It is is no way a 2h Axe or used like one. An Axe is weighted to it's business end and generally attempts to use it's own momentum as swing recovery. By comparison even though a Glaive is large, swapping hands, stance and footwork help a great deal with recovery.
