PoE2 Pause and Respawn at Checkpoint

Hey,
So in the recent Ziz interview they talked about bailing out of fights if you dont feel up for it during the fight.
I'm all for being able to bail, but currently it sounds like you can basically never die to a DoT / ground degen or a huge slam if you have the right reflexes.
You can just pause and respawn.
The whole alt+F4 debate around HC etc is nothing new, but I'd like to suggest a middleground.

How about when you select respawn at checkpoint, it tells you when unpaused you will respawn in 3 (6?) seconds.
That would mean you need to survive the timer instead of having an instant bailout.

So you can still experiment and try a fight, but there is no "cheaty" way out.

Another solution would be how portals works in the Lab in PoE1. You can open portal (PoE2 has a casttime, which is the risk). When you take it and come back the boss is reset and you are at the last checkpoint.

Also just came to mind. If you respawn at checkpoint in maps. does it count as a death/fail? is the map bricked?
Cause if it does not fail the map, that would make the instant bailout even more "cheaty"

Hi, hope I'm piggy-backing in the right thread.

First of all: excited for PoE2. @GGG: You heard it hopefully countless times before but I think you're onto something truly amazing!

I also watched the interview with Zizaran and his video on hardcore vs. softcore (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r9mCDDboU_8) and the argument about "instead of losing everything, just sell the invitation to a no-lifer" really hit me hard.

I'd like to imagine you want us to experience all those boss designs you put so much work into. But if just one misshap means X hours of grinding just to get back to the same point really irks me. I know, I'm probably playing the wrong game then and should go back to Elden Souls or something, where I can bash my head against the wall as many times I need in order to learn and overcome a boss, without any fomo involved.

You certainly have this thought through a lot more than I did, but here's an idea: Loot penalty on death/portal usage

So in the first few tries, I probably won't get any loot, but I can try and learn the fight. Knowing that I could call in help at any point to save my chance at loot.
I have no clue about the feasibility of this, nor how it would work in different modes. Just looking at it from the Softcore-perspective.
