Animate Guardian not getting life from armor

I used Animate Guardian on an identified Belly of the Beast Full Wyrmscale to give my current Guardian a huge life increase.

The Belly of the Beast Full Wyrmscale that I cast Animate Guardian on, had a 40% Increased Maximum Life affix.

However, the life of my Guardian did not go up at all.

I placed the item on the ground with no other items on the ground in Kingsmarch.

The item was below the level limit that my Animate Guardian skill gem requires.

Maybe Kingsmarch absorbed all the power from my armor? ;)
