Ancestral cry + Multistrike

let me start by saying I don't know if this is a bug, but it feels like one

With the changes to autocry from the last leagues exerts are the only benefit from autocrying without more investment, like the Lead by Example notable passive, and ancestral cry is the only warcry that only supports strikes and not slams, or just "Exerted Attacks" or "Exerted skills" but ancestral cry isn't usable with Multistrike

After trying it and being really dissapointed I checked PoE Ninja which is my best source of what people are using for how many strike skills aren't using multistrike, and I don't know the real numbers like GGG might, but on PoE Ninja the results are as follows;
Glacial hammer/Glacial hammer of shattering: 76% using multistrike
Heavy strike: 44%
Molten strike: 66%
Zenith MS: 23%
Smite: 69%
Shield Crush: 88%
Infernal blow: 31%
Static strike: 2%
dominating blow: 75%
Db of Inspiring: 67%
Boneshatter 4% default and 38% of complex

only the strength strike skills are the marjority are still using multistrike, but the dexterity strikes are much higher

Double strike: 86%
Momentum: 91%
Dual strike: 56%
Ambidexterity: 88%
Viper strike: 86%
Frost blades: 98%
Katabasis: 99%
Flicker: 100%
flick of power: 96%
ele hit: 80%
(ele hit spectrum is mostly ranged so I couldn't check that one)
Lightning strike: 96%
alt LS: 79%
Wild strike: 87%
alt: 88%
pestilent strike: 100%

Given, these are numbers on a fan site, with only the top maybe like 20% of the playerbase and I don't know the actual numbers, but when the majority of strike skills cannot use the ancestral cry exert, which is the only reason to autocry it, what is it's purpose?

IMO this game is about finding cool interactions that help you progress, and getting two additional strikes for 15% reservation sounds fair to me, I understand that most exerts would break multistrike, but Ancestral cry specifically seems pointless in the current game, and I think the gem was overlooked in the recent changes to warcrys and autocrys so that the buff it gives couldn't be abused, which does make sense, but the exert part is also worthless making it a cosmetic warcry, and even the small population of people using it, like boneshatter maybe.

I'm sure it fills a good nieche for a small population of builds, but I don't see why it can't have a line added along the line of "Can be used with repeated attacks" or something, because the only part that makes it special is mostly just a utility feature and not a damage increase on single target, but most strike builds can't use it

I haven't tested every gem, and maybe it's just a bug with glacial hammer, but I tried both and I doubt it

Thank you for reading, and I really hope this can get seen

Just looked this up because I was confused as well.
I leveled a Jugg as Complex Boneshatter and used Ancestral Cry. Worked as expected.
Now I switched to Dual Strike of Ambidexterity, linked Multistrike and my Ancestral Cry exerts do not get consumed. They just stay at 8 the whole time.
I manually cast Ancestral Cry with Urgent Orders and dont autoexert it btw.
If I unlink Multistrike it works just fine but I obv lose the attack speed.
I think this is a bug, since the Attack Mastery additional targets, as well as the Glove Eldritch Implicit seem to work just fine with multistrike.
This isn't a bug. Skills that repeat (including those that are supported by Multistrike) can't be exerted. It's in the description of what an exerted attack is, in the full tooltip of the warcry descriptions.

Press Alt on warcry
"
Vaal Attacks, Channelling Attacks, Retaliation Attacks, and Attacks which Repeat cannot be Exerted
I see, thank you for clarification.
