Rescue shipment but portal / instance closed/crashed

Went to sleep and logged in. Got notification that someone had my ship crew. Go to tujen and I click rescue. Portal spawned , i click it, and then it closes with a message said "cannot connect to instance. That subarea no longer exists" . Am i fucked ? Can't click rescue again , it's greyed out. Only have to option to abandon (might be able to pay off but don't have the gold yet)

Ran into this myself, ref 918,056,393.
When I clicked the 'Rescue' button, the portal opened and I clicked it. I then got two messages that can be seen in the screenshot right after clicking: - Failed to join instance because: Disconnect from server. - Failed to join any instances. I clicked the portal a second time and I got the following message before the portal closed itself: - Cannot connect to instance. That subarea no longer exists. Like OP said, I now cannot challenge the pirates to get my shipment back and can only either pay up or abandon it since this seems to have counted as my chance to Rescue the crew.  |

yup happened to me also when im about to rescue my portal suddenly closed and when i try to ransom i cant determine how much gold i need. i dont know if i am force to abandon my crews.

Same error described by Warfey.

Same problem =)
The portal appears next to Tujen, but "Cannot connect to instance. That subarea no longer exists. Possibly no option to pay a ransom either. Just says Insufficient Gold without saying what amount is needed. Abandon is the only option after the portal fails to load the instnace. |

Same thing happening for me, two ships lost tonight. Seems to be no other option except to abandon.
Portal opens but once you click the error pops up and you can't do anything further. |

Same thing happened to me... lost ~100k value. Do we have to abandon or is it worth hoping to save my crew?
