poe.com - chatbot first result on google (What is this abomination?)
Just did a search on google "poe" and was confronted with poe.com - "fast helpful chat bot" first result, above pathofexile.com second result.
I'm obviously not in the know with AI/chatbot products, I guess it's more in use than path of exile? I clicked on the result to try and find out more, but instantly hit with a wall of logins, signups and information requests. Understand GGG don't have a monopoly on the use of poe, particularly when Edgar Allan Poe pre-dates the internet. If the chat bot can give me path of exile related information I might be interested, but otherwise I don't want to know about it. Guess I'll have to bookmark pages and go around google if it's pointing me in a different direction. Very disappointing indeed. Anyway I've made it to the forum and looking forward to the league update next week. (Please move if thread is posted in the wrong location) Last bumped on Jul 14, 2024, 10:14:52 PM

a word of warning GGG does NOT want anyone talking about AI subjects or any of the new AI stuff.
I'm legit not sure what I'm even allowed to type without getting modded. I'm not talking about shit from seedy third party sites either, like legit Microsoft/OpenAI Agent talk will get your post modded. Speaking from experience. I tried to raise a discussion about how GGG might handle whats coming, because the subject fascinates me, and I'm genuinely curious what GGG's thoughts are or how their rules might change when everyone has above board 100% legit agent tech shipped with MS Windows. I'm guessing they've determined that they can't do anything about whats coming so they're just going to moderate any talk of it out of existence until people are conditioned to pretend its not a thing thats happening. I heckin' love this subject too. imagine having an assistant that looks up things for you on the wiki or trade... tells you what Ben would do or how you could make your tree more efficient. just a matter of time. Pandering to players who don't want consequences for their mistakes is a perfect description of what went fundamentally wrong with D3 and 4. If they wanted mindless mobile game time waster gameplay they sure did make some perplexing choices and marketing statements for 6 fucking years. " Interesting. I really don't know anything about this. I'm just a pleb player who wants to find Path of exile information by lazily searching for it with the acronym and not having to scroll. I assume GGG know all about it, just thought I'd provide what I encountered as a player. My initial thought was also that top spot has been bought by poe.com, using the name to leverage GGG search traffic, but realised quickly that I know absolutely nothing about this from my Wraeclast bubble, and it may well be a bigger entity. I also don't know how acronyms or trade marks work, really completely out of my depth on any of these topics. I'm not specifically talking about AI, this could of been any company or product with the same name, it just so happens its AI related, which has further overlaps, like the ones you are mentioning. I understand why this might be a sensitive topic for GGG, I'm not try to make light of it or give opinions, just bringing it to peoples attention. After posting this I realized, it maybe should go in general discussion, but I really don't know, so if mods have a more appropriate location, I'm happy if they move it to the appropriate section. Glad you have responded, because you seem to know a lot more about this than me, and have informed me of some things I hadn't thought about. It's certainly a way more complex topic than just the searching. Not intending for this post to be controversial in anyway, just providing what I have encountered.
