PoE2 Gold pickup text/icon

In PoE2 when player does pick up gold from the ground there's a text "+<amount> Gold" displayed, what's the idea behind printing additional plus (+) character? Are there scenarios where player loses gold by picking negative amount from the ground? Is there a plus sign displayed when you pick up swords or divine orbs?
I'd suggest removing the + character, it's redundant and ugly, simply just amount and gold icon / text would do just fine.

Diablo 4 does the same thing, they haven't listened and kept the + sign, don't be like them.
