Shaper of Flames - Ignite Mechanic Confusion

I'd be grateful if someone could clarify the following ignite mechnic to me:
I have an Elementalist with the Shaper of Flames passive. I'm using Armageddon Brand as the main skill. Shaper of Flames states 'Hits always Ignite'. When I looked at the Character -> Offence tab for the Armageddon Brand skill it had Chance to Ignite 65%, so I put passive skill tree points on to bring Chance to Ignite up to 100%. Is the Character -> Offence tab not taking Shaper of Flames into account? Are the passive skill tree points increasing Chance to Ignite to 100% unnecessary? Does Armageddon Brand not deal 'hits'? The char sheet is lying. You do not need any chance to ignite with that ascendancy node.
As a general rule the char sheet lies about a lot of things in terms of damage. |

POB is a usually better at answering these questions than the character sheet. Toggling the ascendancy node will give you 100% ignite chance, very confusing if character sheet is showing something different. Crit's also inherently proc elemental ailments, you probably don't need to worry about that when using the elementalist ascendancies, but it might be useful to know for other builds if that is not being added to the proc chance in the character sheet.
Armageddon brand is hit damage, you can see this on the skill gem as it's not listed as DOT. It should ignite unless you're connected to something else preventing the ignite, like elemental focus. Last edited by Belegur85#5784 on May 16, 2024, 6:55:57 AM
