Map rerolling, new ways to deal with undesired mods.
|
It would be super if there was an alternative to burning through currency re-rolling map mods that are less than desirable or using Twist of Fate to rngify the mods.
Previously through the sextant system there were 1 or 2 ways to counter specific mods, such as reflection -> get a no-reflect sextant. I like the allflame system and it provides some rng fun around loot and monster types (the core of arpg tenants). An example user story here is: My build doesn't perform well with less-regen or no-regen maps. If I get a no-regen or less-regen mod, I have to reroll the map or not run it. Alternatively, I should be able to counter that specific mod; even if it means adding another downside in it's place, without having to reroll all the mods. This might look something like: I apply consumable (and stackable) resource NNN to the map device that converts "less regen" mods to another downside mod. This might also be a case where Scarabs can roll with drop-only upside/downsides but can still be cleansed with scours. I don't want to have to roll maps AND roll scarabs, so having such a system be drop-only is better than just moving the rerolling to a new item. This might also make sense not to apply to T17 maps to ensure those stand as a pinnacle of mapping content challenge. I'm not sure how to make this not clunky or just a re-invention of the sextant system.. but I'm sure you all can design something interesting. There's also build altering options such as resource/life gain on hit or leech vs a no-regen map mod. This would be a map device based alternative to having to re-tool a build for some specific map mods. Thanks! Yet another unpaid Path of Exile 2 Alpha Tester.
