Unable to progress Searing Exarch

I'm working on getting my voidstones and can't get any progress for Searing Exarch at all. I completed the green quest Polaric Invitation already, and I have the Exarch influence button on my map device (as well as Maven and Eater). I can influence my maps for sure, because the Exarch mobs and altars appear in-map. But when I finish the map (T14-16) I get no progress. The map device button has no ring around the outside with segments, and it doesn't say how many maps I've done; it's not "0/28", but rather it just doesn't show any numbers at all. The hover text on the button says "Complete this map to advance closer to the Searing Exarch," but the text is grayed out.

I've tried relogging, and I've tried buying another Polaric invite and running it. Neither had any effect. I also noticed that my quest log text for The Maven says "Call The Maven to T14+ Maps... You have defeated 0 out of 10," however I've done two Maven Atlas invitations already. I don't know if this is related or not. I can get progress for Maven and Eater like normal.

I might try buying a Incandescent Invitation and testing that if I can find one that I want to pay for.

Buying and running an Incandescent Invitation "fixed" it. He dropped the voidstone and the button on my map device has the progress ring around it now, and the text is no longer grayed out when I insert a map.
