9 dps spectres or 8 dps specters and one support spectre?

With the new Wraithlord helmet, one can get 9 specters
3 base (level 25), 1 passive, 1 chest blight mod, 4 helm

Going from 8 to 9 dps spectres is a bit more than 12% more damage.
But with the helm, you cannot use any other minions, so no minions to proc Feeding Frenzy.

Feeding Frenzy gives 10% more damage, 10% increased attack/cast speed, which should translate to about 12% more damage over all (And 10% movespeed)

So by giving up 1 DPS spectre we don't lose dps, but we gain the benefits of the buffs that support spectre is giving.

The disadvantage is socket pressure, as the helm loses 4 gems, so it may be tough to get a separate linkage for the support spectre.

What are your opinions?

^are you able to make 2 spectre setups: one that procs ff, and other things, and a separate main setup. So that you can have 8 main dps, 1 utility plus procs. ***Ed: nvm....you mentioned this and socket starvation.

Genuinely asking, I haven't made a spectre build in a LONG time.

Generally though, unless utility has changed a lot, their area is so small that the uptime on buffs for ALL your spectres is really low. Probably better to have that extra dps spectre which would be 100% reliable. Maybe the charge generators are better than they used to be though?

Can't see 8/1 not being drastically better unless you are really starved - you can't have other minions so you've got a 6l for dps, then 3l for trigger, 3l for movement, 4l for auras and 4l for misc damage support.

So really it depends how much misc damage support you can get in already but i feel like most circumstances you'll be OK to at least do spec + feeding, its gonna be tight but what minion build isn't lol

Why would you be socket starved if you can't have other minions? You can't use AG or skeletons, so it shouldn't be hard to find a free 3L-4L for the support spectre.
