Shield in PoE 2

I just finished watching Darth and Tri play a shield Warrior and Im extremely concerned. Ive played sword and board literally all my adult life in various games and theres a big reason why you dont want people to have to physically block in a ARPG and thats because its BORING. The gameplay for Warrior blocking VS. Ranger shooting lightning and poison everywhere kiting enemies is night and day and completely saddened me to see. I hope at the very least theres skills that let you attack better while holding a shield but watching people play whack a mole with a club was SOOOOOOOoo dry and DID NOT make me excited to play with a shield. THis is coming from a PLD from FF14 of 12k hours and Guardian of 10k hours in EQ2, I eat, pray love shields. I believe theres is a very small group of people who enjoy shield characters and a even smaller group of people who actually want to hold a button to block attacks , please for the love of the gods do not keep active blocking in this game I am begging you!!!
