For the love of the Queen!

Sorry, I was a C math student at best, but are we sure that this atlas passive actually gives a 20% chance of a Vaal side-area being alluring? I've had this specced now for 100s of maps throughout the league and come by somewhere in the neighborhood of something like maybe 60-70 side areas? Something like that, just really ballparking but I blast a lot of maps and I no-life this game. I'm not referring to chancing them or rolling them with currency, just finding them natural in the wild, corrupted and free. IS it maybe like "20% of vaal side areas are alluring 20% of the time..."?

Probably not a priority, but I'd LOVE to see one.

you know...i was thinking the same thing at the beginning of this league. First time I ever specced into vaal side areas, only encountered an Alluring area once I think.

I was helping a buddy work through their atlas tree the last few days too, so we were ripping through low tier maps, saw so many vaal areas and none of them were alluring. Gonna keep it specced, not too far out of the way but it seems pretty rough.

at least with this....alluring is technically base level 80 (if we take atziri as a guide). I would bet $$$ that there is a hidden ilvl required for alluring to appear at all. So running low tier maps probably WOULDN'T ever spawn them.

Possibly so, although I have had it specced for a lot of t16s as well, which between that and t15s are all I run solo. I started taking screenshots of each vaal area and got to 6 ( went by a bunch more before that but never bothered with a screenshot) and I've not seen one. I haven't seen a crazy amount of vaal areas, had it specced on and off, but at a wag? Around 30-40 in tier 15/16s with it allocated. I guess one thing that got me confused was the wiki, which just showed a small photo of modifiers that made it seem like the alluring maps appear as yellow, just with some different affixes, I assumed they were brown/unique looking. If that is not the case, then I likely was just missing them, lookimg for something else. If not? I'm sure my personal encounter rate with them has been nothing matching any sort of 20% weighting (i.e. none).

I was only pointing out that ripping through low tier maps with your friend might have made it impossible.

the way poe "chance" works is not intuitive to the "casual player".

20% increased chance of encountering an alluring vaal area just meants we encounter it more frequently but we dont know the actual numbers or calculations

the actual chance of encountering it could be 1% each map, with the node this goes up to a whopping 1.2%!!!

But it says "Vaal Side Areas in Areas have 20% chance to be an Alluring Vaal Side Area". It's not the chance of encountering an alluring vaal side area. I encounter vaal side areas roughly every 2-3 maps with the passives specced, as a very rough guess. I don't know what base chance of encountering a regular one is, so the percentages there are indeed based off an unknown. Or at least, I've never bothered looking it up. But this passive is very unambiguous and has no real semantic wormholes. It says that vaal side areas have a 20% chance to be alluring, flat out. Now, I get the math enough to know that it doesn't mean 1 in 5, it could be 0/10 or 2 in a row, but it still seems extremely hinky. At what point can luck reasonably be ruled out? At 20% odds? That's pretty high, not like winning the lottery. I dropped a mirror and a couple hinekora's this league and I'm not a power player.

I specced it again, since I'm a fool, I'm going to double check if I'm conflating "alluring vaal side area" with the unique ones. The tootip doesn't say they are specifically unique, so maybe I'm wrong about it.

Incorrect. It is not an "increased chance".

It is an absolute: "Vaal Side areas have a 20% chance to be Alluring", not PLUS 20%.

UPDATE: I think I figured it out, I found this side area as seen in the screenshot, the tooltip on "For the Love of the Queen" says "(alluring side areas are more dangerous and drop mortal fragments)".

I think that this is a rare version of an alluring side area because of the implicits. So, I guess if you really wanna fight Uber Atziri and don't pick up divination cards or use harvest rerolling, you can do these. The unique ones, which I assume are where you find "the adorned" now still have to be either chanced, vaaled or found.... I found a Mortal Rage in this one, it was underwhelming.
