On kill and on hit with mines
I understand that on kill effects don't work with mines because it's not me who kills enemies, but mines. And that applies to all on kill effects. So if trickster on kill recovery from Polymath is not working so Cinderswallow recovery is also not working. Am i right?
But if mines kill enemies and deal damage instead of me then the same logic should work for on hit effects. But it's not. At least not always. Mark of submission (curse enemies with socketed hex curse ON HIT) is not working, but to my surpriser ring with "curse enemies with flammability ON HIT" is working. Why is that? Either I don't understand something here or it doesn't make sense. One is working and another not? How in such a case works for example eater mod "inflict exposure ON HIT"? No, even when I'm not using it enemies are still being cursed when I detonate mines.

Totems, traps, and mines cannot use or trigger skill gems that they are not linked with, thus they will not be able to apply the socketed curse with their hits
Source from Mark https://www.reddit.com/r/pathofexile/comments/d7z1dt/comment/f1699c7/ basically they can't use skill gems but can use skills from gear Last edited by stumpoman#2863 on Feb 12, 2024, 7:26:57 PM

curse on hit rings is an offensive attribute so its inherited by totems, traps and mines - mark of submission uses socketed gem on hit which is inherited but they don't have socketed gem so it does nothing AFAIK.
Basically if it says on hit it will work you just have to remember that a proxy is not you, so if it leeches on hit its not leeching to you. Exposure on hit works just fine. So yes was you first mentioned those stats don't work for Polymath because its the proxy that is recovering % life and Cinderswallow they don't have a flask so it can't regain charges. On the off chance its worth mentioning DoT's are always attributed to the player so if you have proxies that kill with a DoT effect you would gain the recovery from polymath. |

Yeah, maybe that should change in POE2. I mean Mines are not entities. Like what? Yeah, it wasn't me who killed that monster, it was my crossbow... What? You placed the mine/trap, you are the one killing the monster.
