Detonate Dead of Chain Reaction SSF farming (Skillgem farms shouldnt be this hard)

Yesterday I tried farming this skillgem in SSFHC. I didnt think much of it until after 3hours of constant lab farming I still havent found it yet..
Is there any praticular reason some skillgems need to be this rare? I got the "change to an alternate version of the same skillgem" once in that time and it gave me the wrong one and the final Altar offered me the wrong detonate dead once aswell in that time. 5-6minute runs in the third lab. I mean I hated the Heist gem farm but those gems were all support gems that were mostly meant for lategame upgrade.. I dont think skillgems should be this hard to find.. im being forced into lab for god knows how long.. and I hate running lab even one time.. ive ran it like 30-40x in 3hours.. I can run the first lab to do the entire run in 3minutes but this will take away my chances to find the "change to an alterante version of the same gem".. although i dont think thats much of a big deal if you find this altar once in like 30 runs. There are 68 different green gems, which makes the lab option "random transfigured gem of same color" a 1/68 + 1/67 + 1/66 = 4,48% chance to see it every time.
You said you ran the "3rd lab" which I assume means Merc lab. This gives you only 1 choice per lab and has low chance of giving you "of the same gem", so lets assume this option doesn't exist. You said you ran 30-40 labs. When you've run it 30 times you will have had a 74,64% chance to have seen it (meaning every 4th person won't). When you've run it 40 times you will have had a 83,95% chance to have seen it (meaning almost every 6th person still won't have seen it). So there's plenty of room for more grinding, if you want to count yourself as proper unlucky. ...and with the (likely) addition of more gem options in the future (which MANY people have requested), your probabilities will only get worse from here. So, what your post should really be saying suggesting is for GGG to a) increase the choice from 3 to 5 gems per try, or b) increase the number of tries in merc lab to 2 and uber to 3?, c) lower the rarity of the the "of the same gem" option that can appear - or all of the above? But in the meantime, perhaps consider that you're use the word "hate" several times regarding different mechanics that requires you to grind... in SFF ... in PoE... in a game, (which is supposed to be fun?) Perhaps the self-imposed gameplay constraints you've put on yourself is the real issue? |

" Just wanted to report back that I FOUND IT. I found it the next day, about 4hours total of grinding the 3rd lab.. I think like 60x?! just about, some 1st lab runs too. I almost went crazy. I get that stuff have to be RNG to be fun but this aint fun. Its a goddamn lvl4 skillgem im trying to find.. Maybe make the new gems exclusive to Uber Lab and then let you pick.. it will make you still feel that you need to "GRIND" and in SSF you need to find the Offering too, at that point I dont belive you should be gated behind RNG for a skillgem you want to play. For past I understand that alt support gems were endgame material but SKILL gems shouldnt be some uber rare "drops".. I actually felt like playing Diablo 4 trying to grind out the new Evernight or Genesis Unique stones.. Please change this to be a bit better next league, it needs a bit tweaking. Mathils actual cat

i feel the same way. tried to farm a transfigured gem in ssf and it just sucks ass.
i also feel that there is no real reason to make the acces to them so hard. How about this: you can choose one transfigured gem at the end of campagne, as a questreward. people wouldn't do a full leveling run for them, but ssf players had better access. I'd love that. and i love your game :) |
