Help Me Understand Replica Emberwake
So I get that the mod "Ignites you inflict deal damage X% faster" will increase the overall DPS of an ignite, but I dont understand how "Reduced duration of ignites" factors in.
I have read that you need some amount of %increased duration of ignites in order to even inflict an ignite with Replica Emberwake, but I dont really understand how the reduced duration will affect the overall DPS of an ignite build, thanks! IGN: Eso_Es Last bumped on Feb 2, 2024, 10:31:39 PM

To clarify, does the "90% reduced duration of ignite on enemies" at all lower the damage of said ignite?

Increased and reduced ignite duration don't affect dps, but affect total damage, ignite will keep doing same dps for longer/shorter
" That was a problem because some AN mobs had additional reduced ignite duration mod on them, which in combination with replica emberwake brought players' ignites duration below ignore treshold, making those mobs immune to ignite. Basically you need to care about 2 things: 1) make sure your ignite duration is never 0 (or less than 0.33 sec) 2) make sure your ignite duration matches your ignite application rate, to not lose in effective dps. |

the 90% reduced duration does NOT change the dps of your ignite
Consider these 2 scenarios: 1) 1000 total ignite damage over 4 seconds (250 dps): you get "ignites deal damage 50% faster" ===> 1000 total ignite damage over 2 seconds (500 dps). Something like that. HIGHER dps, less ignite duration. 2) 1000 total ignite damage over 4 seconds (250 dps): you get "90% reduced ignite duration" ======> 250 dps ignite, but only for .4 seconds. SAME dps, less duration HOWEVER if your "ignite" speed (the speed at which you inflict an ignite on an enemy / your attack speed @ 100% ignite chance) is not balanced with the new duration of the ignite, it might cause you to "miss" ignites, lowering your damage upkeep. Ex: Base duration of ignite is 4s. After all my mods, my ignite only lasts .5 seconds. Its still doing ALL the same dps for those .5 seconds. BUT say my attack speed is 1aps (it probably isnt....), that means that for .5 seconds of every attack there is NO ignite on that enemy, resulting in essentially 50% lower overall damage output. TL/DR: to gain the most out of using Replica Emberwake or that new ignite support gem, you need superfast attack speed for it to be fully maximized.
