Feedback: Just killed pinnacle bosses for the first time, and it was awesome!

I finally was able to defeat Searing Exarch and Eater of Worlds! I wanted to post and say it was very fun! It felt super rewarding to be able to finally kill them and win the fight. It is encouraging to see my own journey as a PoE player and to know that I am getting better. I feel a great bit of pride about it.
Eater of Worlds took 2 attempts. The mechanic with energizing the Maven's energy orbs wasn't super clear at first, but I quickly enough figured it out. (I was firing spells at them, I did not realize I needed to stand in them.) The orbs that eat you is a cool mechanic, though quite scary. Searing Exarch took me about 6 attempts. His attacks are pretty well telegraphed once you learn them. The part that killed me a bunch was his fireball phase. I'm running an elementalist with elemental immune golems, and my golems helped quite a bit to absorb hits from fireballs. The rest of it was trying to learn how to dodge adequately. Transfigured frostblink was a huge boon in this fight. On the topic of Exarch and EoW, I loved their prior bosses - the Black Star and ... I forget the other one's name, but the big chonky guy with the axe. I have not yet defeated the Maven, but she is on my "to-do" list. I have never yet defeated the Shaper. I am slowly working my way to him. I have been bonking the conquerors every time I get one, I love the conqueror fights. My favorite is Veritania, my least favorite is Al-Hezmin. I am afraid to try Cyrus, I know the fight is very hard. The prospect of awakened gems is something I like. I might just use the keys and attempt him anyhow, because its better to try than to not. I have defeated the Elder in prior patches, it felt super rewarding to be able to do so. I have not defeated the elder in a few leagues. And I have not yet attempted the Elder and Shaper duo fight. Through all of these fights, the music is top notch and great soundtracks! I think I am a bit away from ubers, but I also know people say you aren't expected to be able to do ubers. Thank you, GGG, for a very fun and challenging game. Looking forward to what PoE 2 has to offer, and future patches in PoE 1. And unrelated to the pinnacle bosses, I really love the transfigured gems. I hope we see more of them. Last bumped on Jan 23, 2024, 2:42:07 AM

Grats!
Just a question: Was it the quest progression exarch/eater or the ones you kill after having progressed already? If the first, those are made a little bit easier than the real ones(not too too much though :P). The uber version are a _lot_ tougher than those again. Respectively monster level 83 for quest, 84 for normal and 85 for uber(with ubers having some extra stuff as well :) The two later versions can be rolled with extra modifiers for extra challenge and loot should you want that. Happy for you that you got them down though. Now onto the next step exile! :) Last edited by arknath#4740 on Jan 22, 2024, 4:11:05 PM

maven is the best boss in any arpg, i think everything about it is fantastic. the mechanics, the art, the character and voice acting, its just the best thing ever.
its a bit of a mess, esp if you have low dps and dont know the fight it seems like a totally intimidating clusterfk, and the uber is even more of an absurd mess. but you can learn the fight to the point of being able to play it in a controlled, methodical, calm manner where you can run the uber version back to back deathless. i agree with marks thoughts in recent interviews where he said hes not happy about the boss invitations for normal and ubers being the same. that aspect of bossing in poe is really bad right now and they need to go back to the atziri model of separate access. but the bosses themselves are the best in the genre. the game is already so good right now, once they fix boss access its gonna be such a great time for poe. the core of the bossing system they have now is amazing and the bosses themselves are the best in the genre by such a long way. I love all you people on the forums, we can disagree but still be friends and respect each other :)
