Confused with SRS Guardian build
I started SRS Guardian build by following the guide at https://maxroll.gg/poe/build-guides/summon-raging-spirit-guardian-league-starter
I've done few builds with Maxroll guides before and they were much clearer than this one. Two main questions: 1. Why does he use Leap Slam when quide suggests using wand? 2. There are different gems mentioned in Leveling and Progression tabs. Which ones should I use for this build? Last bumped on Jan 25, 2024, 2:14:30 PM

1. In the levelling section: "Always use valid weapons for yourLeap Slam (Sceptre, Axe, Mace, Sword). Craft them with Weeping Essence of Fear to add Minion Damage. Dual Wield or use a Spirit Shield with a Minion Damage implicit."
Feels like a minor oversight in the levelling PoB. 2. The Levelling section is for levelling, the Progression section is how you scale the build up once you get to maps. |

The build is a very solid starter but there are several transition points when leveling before maps.
You might find it useful to check havoc's stuff on it. He's havoc616 on youtube and has an Acts runthrough along with a link to a POB with very thorough leveling notes. It's subtractem's build, but havoc makes a few tweaks during leveling. |

Thanks. So I'll ignore Progression tab until I get to maps. I'll try using sceptre and leap slam until then, unless I get a better wand.
I never did minion build before so it's a learning curve for me. Raising Spectre and Animate Guardian seem a bit confusing at the moment but hopefully will be self explanatory once I get there. |

You just want a travel skill here. Frost Blink, Flame Dash, Leap Slam: any of those can work and they have different attributes.
If you want Leap Slam, you can have it on your second gear option and a wand on your first. But then you have to swap... I mostly used FB until I switched to Shield Charge when I started maps. It's not bad to keep both later for the extra mobility and barrier crossing. It looks like your Templar is 10. I would use Rolling Magma, Flame Wall, and Holy Flame Totem with dual wield once you get to the Dark Arts wheel. When you get to 24, which is around the same time, you can add the bench craft for "fire damage to spells" to both weaps. You find that recipe in Solaris Temple, level 2, in the side room near Dialla. If you put that on both, it'll give you a really nice damage boost. That should get you to the switch into SRS. I waited until Enduring Bond for that. (Around 38 I guess.) Not sure what it feels like sooner. Spectres and AG are not necessary for Acts. Honestly, I made it to t12 maps with a 4L and very scuff gear (SSF) without either. I'm still ignoring them just to see if I can get first two watchstones on a 5L without them. Thanks again. Got to level 23 last night and am only mid Act 2. Already using SRS but mainly to get the gem leveled up. I wasn't too bothered with my gear so far (apart from weapon) but will start crafting around level 30 so then can do first Lab ASAP. Wands I found so far were much better than any other weapon so may add shield charge to frostblink.

Congrats!
Something worth noting is that the gems sold by the early Act vendors can be bought in leveled versions later. You can also put gems in your second set of weap/shield gear to level them. |

Hopefully last question regarding that guide. In the first tab, you can see the gear used and literally none of it has any elemental resistances. Surely that's not right, no?

That graphic is highlighting the "key mods" you would be going for on those specific pieces of gear. (You'll notice some of them have only a single mod. Others have only 2-3.)
Since you can bench craft resistances on any piece of gear, the assumption is that you're putting your resistances where you need to. You really don't need capped res until you start maps. And by the time you start seeing Ele Weakness mods on your maps with regular frequency (probably yellow tier?) you will want more. |
