Help - Penance Brand of dissipation

Guys, I was following Manni's "guideish" and the build was great till t14s.

Now I wanna go to t16s and the struggle is real, I can't seem to be able to damage especially rare monsters and bosses.

Anyone could help me? I just wanna know what's the main point I should focus to get a better damage output.

In order to give any kind of real feedback, you need to post a POB here, so people can see gear/skills/tree/etc.

(2.0)The Party Crasher - Hardcore viable Ice Crash Duelist - https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/1335704
tyvm, never done it before XD
I would say the first and most important thing is to get pob and learn how to use it.. it is very easy becuse then you can compare your build to the guide you are following and also link your chars pob here to get help, ingame dmg and defence numbers are just wrong sadly so pob is a must if you want to optimise your builds.. this is the comunity fork of pob and the one you wanna get https://pathofbuilding.community/
Ok. I'm at work right now, so I can't see all the details on the PoB, but there are some things that I can help you with.

Let's start with your gems:

Flame Dash is a Spell. So faster attacks don't work with it. Use Faster Casting.

Defiance Banner with Blessing is a waste (You can make it free with charms). It is only a bit of reservation, you should use blessing with a big aura, and put inspiration there, it gives extra crit. Which is great for a crit build. (Yeah, you need more energy shield, we'll get there)

About Hypothermia... I could not find a source of could damage. This gem is useless like this, change for some extra damage or craft "phys to cold" on gloves.

If you want more damage you can change Grace for Zealotry (Recommended for bossing). 100% crit is a must in a crit build.

Get a Cast When Damage Taken lvl 1. With a lvl 8 you need to take too much damage to activate your Molten Shell. (Don't forget to keep it at a max of lvl 10)

The heralds are ok while you can use them, but you'll very likely stop using them when you upgrade your gear. Unless you have a lot of money xD

Talking about gear:

Your Scepter is bad, you need to look for something with +1 lvl for phys or lightning gems (ALL gems). If you can get a total off +2 is even better. Cast speed is good, you need more crit chance, multi/elemental damage is a great plus. Just get very expensive.

The same for the shield. and go for one with energy shield.

You should look to get an amulet that gives extra lvls to you Penance, or go for a Replica DragonFang for penance, it gives +3 lvls.

Everything else can be for resists and defs (get Dex/Int, you need more energy shield). Just try to go for suppression until you get the full 100% and resists. craft Conversion to cold on gloves and get "phys damage taken as" on helmet. Look up for the implicits from Eater of Worlds and Searing Exarc. There is a LOT of strong things there. (Hinder, suppress, damage conversion, move speed, "phys damage taken as" and such)

And them armor... Just don't... You are using the mastery that gives "+15% chance to Suppress Spell Damage if Equipped Helmet, Body Armour, Gloves, and Boots all have Evasion Rating" your armor have no evasion. So you are using a completely useless mastery... Get some Evasion/ES armor with a lot of life (And drop the life mastery). I would recomend a armor that changes the phys damage taken to something else.

(And as a side note for why changing the phys damage to something else is so good. Phys damage reduction is less effective the bigger the damage. It is amazing for small slaps. But if you take a big slam from a boss you get 1 shotted because it loses most of its effect).

Craft some better flasks. They can have 2 modifiers. Some to recover better and other to remove a bad effect or give something positive. Try to automate them. "use when full" is great and save you having to pay attention to them. Drop one of the life flasks and get a Diamond for crit. Again, 100% crit is a must. With cold damage and lightning damage you can proc freeze and shock constantly. When you have enough crit so you don't need a flask, you can drop it for something else.

And on the topic of having enough crit on gear. When you have that, you can start dropping your crit nodes on the tree and get something else. Jewel slots are great. You can get life, crit, cas speed and damage.

The tree seems ok, maybe when you get more damage and get better clear you can start to drop some area nodes until a point you are comfortable with (Or get a Oriath's End flask and drop them all). The same can be said for the mastery that gives more attach range. It is your preference, but if you are clearing fast enough you can drop it.

If you want, you can look at my profile, I have a Penance char (https://www.pathofexile.com/account/view-profile/pauloms22/characters), not that great right now, but you could use it as a reference for the next step.

One big issue I see and probably the source of the lack of damage is that you don't have any phys damage conversions on your glove AND you don't have the phys to lightning Gem in your 6 link. I would advise that you get a glove with 35% phys to lightening/cold and add the implicit for 15 % of phys to the other one (cold damage can freeze). If you can't afford to get the gloves, at least swap out hyperthermia for phys-to-lightning.

You also need a lot more spell damage in both your sceptor and shields. Cast speed in your rings should be 15% instead of just 10%. Brands scale off cast speed and spell damage. the +1 to skills are also important on your scepter and amulet. I would actually advise that if you don't have the currency, follow Zizaran's budget POB guide first until you farm up enough currency to upgrade. Essence farm in white maps as a start, or see my reddit post on how I farmed a mageblood with PB Inq.
