Beginner player after Kitava Act 10
It's me again with another beginner question (I'm a Diablo 4 player btw).
TLDR: Is it all maps and trading currency from here on? Long story: I have just completed Act 10 Kitava with no deaths at all for my first league and surprised he was relatively easy. As I was researching PoE terminologies, I kept seeing Reddit threads from beginners where they suffer multiple deaths against Kitava. So I was prepared for the sad experience but to my surprise Kitava was easy. I had 2.4K HP, 2.4K mana, 850 energy shield, 2K armor, and max res (and still max after I beat Kitava) and running with my own Flamewall and Firestorm build (inspired by my Diablo 4 build) I already completed. Tier 1 Map and it was somewhat laggy. The loading times are atrocious even with my Xbox Series console. So the typical endgame flow from here on is pretty much maps and farming/trading currency and gearing up with the BIS gear. Keep optimizing my build so I can farm faster? How many folks quit after finishing the campaign and start a new char? Edit: Is trading even a thing in Xbox? The campaign is really just the tutorial. Maps, atlas, gearing, bosses, uber bosses, crafting, juicing, trading are the endgame activities. For now I would focus on filling out your atlas tree and trying to fight eater of worlds/searing exarch bosses. For the atlas tree, pick a few map mechanics that interest you and boost them.

So it's basically the same as with Diablo 4. Campaign is basically just a tutorial. I guess what threw me off is the number of beginner threads who had issues against Kitava.

D4's endgame is a pale imitation of the endgame of PoE.

After the campaign, the real game begins. You will get a new skill tree (Atlas Tree) where you can select things you like to do then more often, but mostly harder for more rewards.
Also you progress through the atlas to kill the pinnacle bosses: The Maven The Shaper The Elder The Eater of Worlds The Searing Exarch Sirus, Awakener of Worlds There are also Uber variants for an even bigger challenge, and many player aim to do as many of the 40 challenges as possible. |

" I don't know if it's imitation but pale maybe more accurate. I wouldn't say though that being good at one makes you good at the other unless you play both games. It does help being good at one and used that as a foundation for comparison. I am so far comfortable at cruising T5 maps without using a build guide using the things I knew from D4 (my build is inspired by my D4 builds). I am looking forward to PoE 2 btw |

" This is kinda the opposite of D4. Uber bosses are way easier than most Nightmare Dungeons (Map like equivalents). In D4 you can only nitpick the maps called sigils. You spend sigil powder to craft a Nightmare Dungeons with random mods and that's about it. Pray you don't get the worst affixes, but good builds can do any affix. Nitpicking happens when you craft a sigil that you don't like and throw it away and craft again. Crafting is cheap if you had been farming a lot The only reward for completing Nightmare Dungeons is the ego boost which I have plenty already. Uber bosses are so easy and you get a chance to get Uber gear that can potentially build breaking. If we compare it to PoE, D4 Uber bosses are like Kitava in Act 10. Easy. I guess that's still relative since I have seen a lot of threads where folks are having a hard time against Kitava. Last edited by BigBoom9240#8803 on Dec 28, 2023, 9:08:07 PM

PoE uber bosses are easier than the most difficult map content, but PoE has a lot more ways to juice maps compared to what you can do with NMs.
There is a ton of endgame content aside from the bosses, and different content requires different build types to perform at the highest level. So part of your progression can be figuring out what you like and learning how to optimize a build to do that content. The other thing you can do is forget trade and play SSF. It's a completely different game with different puzzles and satisfactions. (And, of course, there is HC as well.) Congrats on getting into mapping without a build guide. I'll say that, even if you like working out your own builds, looking at the PoBs of people who know what they're doing can be a great way to learn and improve. |
