Master Surgeon (help me understand)

So ive just got master surgeon and after trawling the internet im getting a lot of conflicting information and as a last resort im hoping someone can help me understand how to get the most from master surgeon in my build.

I have just crafted a saturated Divine flask and im getting around 165 life regen per second but some information i have read have talked about 1000`s so what am i doing wrong?

I would be happy with anything upward of 700 but 165 seems a little lack luster which makes me think im doing something wrong.

Can post any character information if needed (just ask)

Cant answer the bigger question but you seem to be misunderstanding something. The life recovery from life flasks is not "regeneration". And even without minmaxing anything you should get a lot more than 165. So that 165 number (where you got this from?) is likely wrong.


Edit: The 165 is likely just the 2% you get from 'Heart of Oak'. This is not the life recovery from the flask. Edit 2: Doesnt quite fit, 2% should be less than 165.

The 165 was from my ingame character sheet, before flask use it is 77.8 and after i use my life flask its 168.4

Almost all information on master surgeons seems to be before the change 3.21 and now i cant seem to get my head around what it actually does?

Could you explain the notable in as simple terms as possible, i dont know why but i always struggle to understand the bigger picture of what this game tries to tell me.

1.Life Flask Effects are not removed when Unreserved Life is Filled
I have no unreserved life so this is no good to me?

2.Life Flask Effects do not Queue
I dont understand the logic here so does this mean i can use more than one life flask two get double life from flasks?

3.50% less Life Recovery from Flasks
(this one is obviously a downside and i understand this one)

The extire notable seems useless to me, i genuinely thought it was gicing me life regen which is the only reason i took it but maybe this is old information from before the change?

Edit: apparently its to be used with petrified blood and it works well with that and is not very helpful on its own.

That explains it. It is indeed 'Heart of Oak' which is increasing your regeneration.

In the simple use case it works like (I think) you expected it to work. Except that you didnt understand that "life regeneration" in character stats doesnt show the effect.

You would be dead if you would have no unreserved life. Far as I could tell from your character - didnt look closely at everything - you will benefit from this effect.

No. Only the strongest recovery will work for you.

It gives "life recovery" not "life regeneration". It doesnt show up in the character stats.
Note that these are PoE wordings. If phrased in simple non-PoE English using life flask does indeed increase your life regeneration. But character stats use PoE and not English.
