Not having Scion in PoE2 is a mistake!

Players have favorite characters, mine is the scion.
Why remove something people love instead of carving out a place for it in the game? Please reconsider.

Because...new games are....new?

You could copy/paste your statement about ANYTHING in PoE 1. Chances are someone will agree. But then what are we left with? A brand new game that is just a copy/paste of the old game.

Even the "returning" classes in PoE 2 are going to likely be unrecognizable from their current incarnations.

And tbh, PoE has worked REALLY HARD for years and years to remove class identity (for good or for bad, this is a different argument). PoE, by its nature, is designed where class is a minimal part of your actual end build. And even by current standards, a "scion/ascendant" means nothing.

Every class in PoE 2 is a new character, even the ones which are copied classes from PoE 1.
"I want a new game but I don't want a new game"
The opposite of knowledge is not illiteracy, but the illusion of knowledge.
Its possible that scion will be added later on, like it was in poe1.
