Tincture bleed refresh buff question

Hello all,

I just wanted to ask, if anyone knows how tincture with Bleed refresh works.
I mean, Bleed is a ailment that you can apply one 1 time (without Crimson Dance) and only highest bleed apply.

Given that, by attacking enemy do I prolong bleed that is already there or do I roll for highest bleed again AND prolong it ?

That would be kinda of crazy with Crimson Dance, with enough Attack Speed you can (technically) maintain 8 bleeds and every single time it would be prolonged AND rolled over so by standing still and attacking you are going to get highest bleeds possible.

Does it work ?
