On wand "Adds Fire Damage to Spells" but gem is in Chest - works?

Hi all,

Noob question - if I craft "Adds x Fire Damage to Spells" on my wand, but my fire gem is in my chest piece, does it benefit from the wand fire damage to spells? Or does that only apply to the gems socketed in the wand?

It works !

If it applied to socketed spells, the wording would've been "Adds x Fire Damage to Socketed Spells".

Note that it won't buff minions, even if the gem is tagged as spell. That's because the spell summons the minions, but doesn't deal damage by itself (the minions do).

That's great, thanks for confirming! I was seeing mixed results with "local" vs "global" for modifiers on gear when Googling around.
