Ultimatum - realistic approach, hold your horses

OK so this mechanic is finally going core, one of the most beloved mechanics apparently, and most requested. Everyone is hyped and everyone wants to full spec into them and run them. Fine, go ahead. Just a few bits of information that is important though:

-It is a LONG league mechanic. 10 trials each map. Up to 13 with that "uber" keystone. Don't expect to farm maps quickly with this mechanic. Avoid pairing this up with atlas strategy that is focused on clearing many maps per hour. It is on the right side of the tree, so it favours slower mapping, you can stack with with Blight and Delirium. Maybe even Ritual if you like circles THAT much.

-It will likely release rippy and overtuned. They are "rebalancing" the affixes and these encounters were always a clusterfuck of monsters, majority of whom were rares. You better prepare a tanky league starter if you want to farm this. Glass cannon builds will get shredded to splinters in these trials and this is a hardcore mechanic - if you miss on round 10 you lose everything you accumulated in rounds 1-9.

-Monsters don't drop items. A change that got skimmed over among the hype. In actual 3.14 league there was a massive loot explosion from mobs you killed. Bear that in mind, because other mechanics that spawn a fuck ton of mobs do drop items. Blights, alva temples and whatnot. This isn't MF mechanic, not in a million years.

I sincerely hope you last more than 2 hours after launch before coming here and venting your frustration - as your brittle Deadeye gets smeared all over the floor.

To addition; common defensive approach was small hit protection via evasion, dodge and block on hit. These seems like won't apply new Ultimatum by itself. New rare monsters hit like truck. And they get buffed with other rare monster's auras and Ultimatum modifiers. So, you need all around build that kills rare monsters quickly and all around defensive build.
The map spam meta is due to the way GGG has recently designed the end-game loop via filling a meter. Ideally it should not be anywhere near that experience IMO and Ultimatum being the exact opposite is a good thing. We need more adventure, exploration and similar additions.

That was the only reason I was sad Prophecy died. It was an ideal mechanic to introduce side quest. Special dungeons in a map like Vaal side areas but fun.

I think a lot of players liked Ultimatum simply because it was a better Ritual.

Yes though, it will probably be RIP city. It's impossible to get the defense we could when it was a league. One of my Ultimatum chars had 1.4 mil phys eHP and 800k Elemental.

Lets not complain until league launches, if you wanna play a glass cannon and get annihilated by league mechanics thats kind of a personal problem.

Don't forget that over and over and over and over and over again a huge portion of the community whined to get ultimatum back and now people are complaining about it before it launches lol.

I cant speak of the tankiness of chars that league since i was playing self cast blade flurry berserker with 700 armour, acro/phase acro, and leech as my only defensive layers on top of not using any defensive auras and i fell over to almost everything if i didnt 1 shot it. I dont remember being able to be tanky until they changed armour/ev deter/grace scaling other than block. in that era anyways.
