Krangled Would Be Fun If...

The tree wasnt hidden. Im not about to waste my time in a 1 week event grinding the campaign for 20 respecs and a bricked character. Cant even use the current community tree because people keep sabotaging it with false information. I was really hoping they learned it was a terrible idea the first time, but here we are.

I think it would be the most fun if trees would be character bound and if respec would not be possible. And no clusters.

Ascendancies should not be fully krangled though. Rather 33% chance from same Ascendancy, 33% chance from same class, 33% chance from other class.
No wonder it's lost, it's in the middle of the jungle!
if you ask me the biggest problem with the idea is the fact that POE is tuned super ultra hard/unfair and without strong build and mechanics knowledge, or following meta strats/builds the game is unbearably tedious and genuinely unfun to play. "winging it" (without the above) doesn't work in POE. And even with the above it will fail pretty hard with unplayable massively inefficient passive tree.

You get oneshot on a tanky HC build often enough... now sub in a character/build that has 70-99% less efficient tree...

It could be a blast if POE was actually tuned as well as D2 and they made the tree character bound so you had to improvise and make the best out of it... but its not, and GGG doesn't seem to know what TTL and TTK mean or just aren't expert enough to use these concepts to tune their game with.
Pandering to players who don't want consequences for their mistakes is a perfect description of what went fundamentally wrong with D3 and 4.
If they wanted mindless mobile game time waster gameplay they sure did make some perplexing choices and marketing statements for 6 fucking years.

to be honest i didn't not participate but if i were to design a Krangled event i would go with:

*random skill tree with each new character
*gain more skill points per level, either 2 per level or an aditional skill point every 2-3 levels
*can see nodes in a small radius around allocated node instead of only adjacent nodes

on the positive side chieftain is finaly decent in Krangled XD

Chieftain is the strongest ascendency right now, free full screen explosions, easiest 90 all res in the history of the game, i did all content on it in 4 days.

They should do the opposite of Krangled. People can choose any Points from any Ascendancy but not the scion version.
